There are three of us who are starting the CMA this week and one who started last week. Can we get a cma study group thread stuck or would you prefer we use the everything cma thread for that and just let it bump itself when we post?

For now, please use the dedicated thread. I will probably eventually create another forum.

Yeah – a designated/sticky thread with maybe a link to past discussions would be tremendously helpful. OR…like you indicated…an altogether separate forum.

Case in point – I just discovered the “CGMA” designation…

From what I've learned thus far/my observations and thoughts:

1.) NO TEST REQUIRED. How is possible? Apparently, testing will start in 2015. Do current holders get grandfathered in? What's the point of it currently?

2.) “Experience requirement” is incredibly ambiguous. No mention of different tasks within public accounting, like the CMA distinguishes. Says internal audit is ok, but no reference to external audit. Thus, it appears that external audit is ok for CMA, but not this certification that you just apply for??

3.) What is the future of the CMA certification? Will it be less valuable? Should someone interested in either defer until we know more?

4.) Why introduce the global aspect into the designation? It just doesn’t make sense, especially with no testing involved.

What do you guys think? It'd be great to get different perspectives from those that hold a CPA, CMA, CGMA, or a combination of.
