    Hello all!

I am currently a CPA employed by a public accounting firm. However I travel over 100 days a year and it is very hard on me and my wife. I just received an offer from KPMG for a 12% increase in pay. However, I think the work/life balance will be even worse. Is it worth it? I also got a job offer from a company to be a financial analyst. This is about a 20% increase in pay, but I don’t know how much upward mobility it has. What are your thoughts?

No work/life balance due to travel at current firm < No work/life balance due to potential Big4 hours

You need to consider your career trajectory and what you're shooting for. I can't speak to the trajectory of taking an alaytic position but in terms of current firm vs. KPMG, I would rather have no work/life balance with a Big4 firm than no work/life balance without the resume cache. Of course, as mentioned throughout many threads your experience at KPMG could be lots and lots of hours or something more reasonable like lots of hours.

KPMG really likes to harp on flexibility and not working such crazy hours, but I have no experience working there, so you might take that with a grain of salt. Good luck with your decision!

All firms PR the work/life balance, and 0% of people who mention work/life balance during an interview get a job haha 😀
