HBO Sr Accountant

OVERALL SUMMARY:

Senior Accountant, Financial Operations & Reporting to perform the forecasting of HBO’s spending on Acquired Theatrical Programming (ATP) and East Coast Business Affairs, (“the business areas”). ATP requires an in-depth understanding of HBO’s studio and library deals and programming amortization policies. Senior Accountant will also support the budget and long term planning processes for the business areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare the monthly forecasting processes for the business areas.

• Prepare the timely delivery of quarterly external reporting schedules, including commitments and contingencies and intercompany reconciliations.

• Develop an in-depth understanding of HBO’s studio and library deals and utilize that knowledge to forecast programming amortization and cash payments.

• Optimize the use of Hyperion Planning to ensure accurate and timely analysis and reporting.

• Support the development of budgets and long term plans for the business areas.

• Identify trends in the industry and proactively assess the financial implications of changing circumstances and assumptions.

• Collaborate extensively with finance and operating areas.

• Proactively identify and implement internal process improvements, including Hyperion Planning system enhancements that will deliver more efficient / effective forecasts.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

• Minimum of 4 years combined public and / or private experience.

• CPA strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to research, interpret and apply financial accounting standards required.

• Strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.

• Experience with Hyperion Planning strongly preferred.

• Media & Entertainment industry experience a plus.

This is a great reminder of why I started my CPA exam journey.

Hi Lari, I've been with the company going on 9 years in September. Left public after years and been here since. I love the company/business and the people I work with daily. We typically work a 40 hour week, quarters and year end are busier of course, and occasional events in the.business that require more time, but more often than not a 40 hour work week.
