Hi everyone, I am an international student, who is graduating from Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. Unfortunately, I have done poorly, and may end up living with my brother in NY doing a degree from Keller (DeVry) School. However, my main focus is to get the CPA within a year. Assuming that I am able to do so, (I know thats a big assumption), I am worried about my job prospects since my Master’s Degree will be worth nothing. What do you guys think will be my chance of getting a job given that I have a poor GPA, but passed the CPA in the first attempt. Any help is appreciated.

My thought has always been that if you pass the exam and are a CPA – a MS degree doesn't add material value to your resume.

An MBA is much more valuable when you have 5+ years of real world experience under your belt and the material you learn actually means something.

In short – just pass the CPA Exam and I wouldn't worry about the other.

If your master's degree will be worth nothing, why pay big bucks for it? Find a cheaper MBA school. I heard Wayne State University is cheap.

I am kind of on the same boat, but not an international student.

I wanted to know how much of a difference does passing the CPA exam make in landing a job in the field.

So far I have had very little luck as everybody seems to want people with experience, which I have almost 0 of. 🙁

I'm wondering… To be a “real” ninja, do you need a license or a masters? Or will a high GPA do?

I've always been interested in that career field, but I struggled in Nunchuck 101 in college. Too many black eyes. I guess I'm not cut out for it.
