I feel that Gliem is not detailed enough like its inventory valuation methods. I might have to use my intermediate accounting book for lifo perpetual and periodic inventory because the explanations and examples I find are brief at best. The Lectures are brief and not to detailed. I havent really started my course yet. Should I get supplements or is it detailed enough for me to pass? Has anyone used only Gliem for exams?

Using only Gleim. If i can pass this exam then anyone can. I am a stupid idiot.

I have used two different review programs. The first one didn't work for me at all and it's not worth naming as most people don't know of it. I passed Audit and BEC using Roger. I have since bought Gleim for REG and used Gleim for two audit courses in college. Gleim is way more detailed than my previous two courses in its MCQ. It's not even close. I can't speak for the lectures on Gleim bc I have never used them but Gleim is extremely detailed with its questions. I've commonly heard it is the most extensive test bank. I'm overwhelmed by it and have a hard time getting through all the questions and the reading. The book is more difficult to read than other review books since it is so detailed. I would argue that I'm intimidated by it for opposite reasons than you are. I haven't taken FAR so I don't know how heavily tested the subject matter is that you mentioned above. But I think it's definitely doable to pass with only Gleim. I'm trying to pass only with its MCQ, ninja MCQ for extra practice, and maybe Gleim sim wizard

Hey mark, I am using gleim for AUD and feel that the book lacked some details also. However when I started answering MC and SIMS it is very detailed and challenging. I failed AUD first time basically because of the SIM section which is the reason most people fail. I scored stronger in 3 testlets and compatible in 1 testlet …weak on sims. Gleim over prepared me for MC I flew through the questions. I had a lil over 2 hrs left for sims (minus half hour of freaking out when I saw the size of the first question in sims) So I think if I did not freak out maybe I would have passed.

After my fail I asked ppl in this forum and concluded that there is no material that can properly prepare you for sims. also I have yet to come across one person who did not have good words on Gliem (search this forum key word Gleim).

Anyways, my suggestion is to read the chapter and bang out MC see how you do. you are allowed to do some (i dont know how much) of the onliine questions and get ur money back if you do not like it.

Here you go my friend. A lot of info on gleim. Plus if you fail the exam gleim is free till you pass you have to follow some rules… the details are in the link bellow. Good luck

also, I went to the book store and compared my gleim with excel to see if excel explains my weakareas better than gleim NO it did not. So another option for you is go to book store compare ur gleim with excel maybe it would help you.

    Hey Mark,

I've used Gleim only for the three exams I've passed so far, including audit which I hadn't taken until an online course 2 months before my audit exam. As for FAR, I found the material extensive enough, obviously not as detailed as an accounting textbook, but enough so for the topics you will see and detail of question you will see. I study by mixing the audio at the gym and driving, PowerPoint lecture for notes, person lecture for additional notes, then read the book to conclude. The true/false quizzes are helpful, and each test bank has around 2000 questions which I suggest doing all of; the test prep study mode also allows for immediate feedback on right/wrong answers while you work. best of luck!

wow… thanks for all of the info. I basically just randomly started clicking on sub units and random lectures to get a feel for the course. Sub unit one which is the conceptual framework of financial accounting is pretty straight forward so I clicked on inventory which i believe was sub unit 5 or 6. I wanted to see an area of financial accounting which was more computational than conceptual. Trish, I think I am going to stick with Gleim because I learn better from teaching myself. My accounting professors were terrible in college and I passed all my classes by doing homework and taking extensive notes… cpa exam shouldn't be any different. I would have bought Rogers but he doesn't offer unlimited access or have a guarantee. If Im spending over $1000 dollars, guarantee your course. My college let you withdrawl from a class your first 2 weeks without any financial penalty why should this be any different. I think that is the main reason I chose Gleim.

Using only Gleim. If i can pass this exam then anyone can. I am a stupid idiot.
