Ok Auditing is difficult due to wording and to me a good amount of information to process and bob and weave thru. 1st testlet was standard but some questions were tricky. 2nd the same. 3rd was very tricky, not to wordy, but just very detailed on how deep you need to know the information. Felt like I was getting tested on the 7th most important bullet point of a specific topic, therefore I have no clue how that panned out. Now comes the sims. They are monsters. Its almost impossible to prepare for them. 1 Sim was so sick that I couldn’t believe it was tested the way it was. 2-3 Sims were pretty straight forward. 2-3 were very wordy and particular which made it so confusing on which way to answer. The research question I think I nailed. Overall not sure how to feel ……I did some good, I had some “what is this” moments, and I had some topics just more heavily tested than others which I think I did ok on.

So thats it….gonna pack it in…watch a movie…and pray I passed and wait impatiently for these score release date. Anyone with similar experience and pass …post me some encouragement of hope

That's tough. I'm sorry you came out feeling that way. I just took Audit on the 19th, and I felt like my simulations were incredibly easy, but I have 2.5 years of public experience including audits, and the audit principal for my office is actually an instructor for AuditSense.

Do you have any public accounting audit experience? One thing that I've noticed from people with experience and people without is that those with experience find audit to be the easiest exam of the four. Those without experience quite often say its the most difficult. It seems like if you have never seen the concepts in action, then it can be difficult to really grasp and have a working understanding of the material.

    Good luck to you!!!

Thanks for the post MT3130 – no Audit experience for me – I think I understand the concepts, just can be very tricky with one word misread …..as in thinking it was from Public vs non-public, or for a review vs an audit. Overall don't get me wrong not feeling delated, just not sure how to feel about the out of the world questions that like most test takers hope “its pre-tested 🙂

That's exactly what I mean. When you have the experience, you will never confuse an audit for a review again, trust me. The difference in how much work you have to do is significant. It really helps to burn the differences into your mind. As far as the public vs nonpublic, its the same thing. You will generally work on one much more than the other, and it really helps you draw a distinction between the two, so every time you see the word non-issuer, you know its rule set A. Every time you see public, its rule set B. When you know one set of rules, learning the other set simply consists of learning the differences from the rules you know.

One thing that I've learned working on audits is that words are powerful. You would be surprised at how upset clients get over one little word. I once had to modify a statement of operations 5 times because the client was unhappy with us calling cancellation of debt income cancellation of debt income lol. In case you were wondering, they were good with debt restructuring, but not CODI, extinguishment of debt, and two other perfectly reasonable descriptions.

MT3130 – my post was put to give my personal experience on the audit exam, whether I have experience or not in auditing, is not the point, because people can be working in audit just like you and feel the same way as me about the exam, so to some it helps to others it may not, we are all designed and created different, hence everyone does differently and feels differently about the exam. Also point of the post was to get a little encouragement, like you said words are powerful, not discouragement. Anyways, looks like you are about to become a CPA as it seems like you breezed thru the exams in about 6 months or so, Congrats and good luck to you.

I felt the same way when I came out of my AUD retake. I knew I failed, but I came out with an 85. The exam was so difficult and I could consistently narrow my answers down to two and then had to take an educated guess. Don't count it as a fail just yet. It may just be the win you need!

Amaffei- I agree I just took audit last week. I studied everything over and over and was getting good scores on my practice tests, but darn. The detail on the MCQs was crazy, my review course didn't seem to have that kind of detail . There is one question I didn't know that I still can't find the correct answer to -not even with Google. Trying to let it go. I also agree that the sims were hard and one I just flat out didn't understand what the heck they wanted. Hope that was the pretest. ;). Fingers crossed I don't have to go through that again! Good luck to you.

Thanks for the Post Pwrcat. Yeah Audit is all about the wording and details which can be annoying, and I totally hear ya with some questions were just out of left field, one of my Sims I never saw or do (maybe we had the same SIM), and some MCQ were just out there. But majority were fair game and I believe I did well on those, so we will see – good luck to you as well!

I just took AUD today. I thought my multiple choice were fair. Definitely a few tough ones, but nothing totally off the wall. A few obscure questions, but they may have been pre-test anyhow. My SIMS however, were a total animal. I thought the research one was quite easy, but I had a few others that were monsters. Who knows. I don't know how to feel about it. I feel like I did well on the multiple choice, but didn't feel super confident on the SIMS. I don't want to say I failed, but really couldn't tell you. I wasn't prepared for a couple of the crazy SIMS I got.

I am taking this exam soon. I have a 94 trending score on Ninja MCQ with almost 1,100 questions taken. We don't have an audit practice at our firm but I do a few compilations and reviews every year. I am mostly worried about the SIMS. I have gone over a few in the NINJA software but I don't plan on going over them much before the exam.

I took AUD 1/30. In total, I marked about 8 multiple choice questions that I just wasn't sure about. The rest, I felt were straightforward. I started the SIMs thinking I was a badass…

The SIMs were terrible! I cannot guage how I did on them, except for the 1 research question, which was super easy.

I studied intermitently for the last 4 months, reading and studying the CPAexcel course outline book. However, I think the NINJA MCQ solidified the information and taught me how to analyze the questions.

Guess I'll find out on 2/24 if I made the grade and if I need to revamp my studying techniques for FAR in May.

    AUD 1/30/15 - 79
    FAR 5/29/15 - 83
    BEC 10/2015 - 82
    REG 11/2015 - 75 and DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My experience is very similar to those who posted above. I thought I was completely prepared for the AUD exam. MC was not bad for me at all. I had many marked, but I mark things more to review my answers. I would say there were a total of 5-6 questions between the second and third testlet where I was torn between two answers. Ultimately I was feeling great.

THEN the simulations happened. Oh man. I can't believe what I was being asked, and the wording of the questions. I basically only feel confident on my research question. That's the honest truth. There was one simulation where I literally had to blink a couple times to accept that this question was actually being thrown at me. I'm trying to stay positive, but these simulations are haunting me. Hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

This waiting game is the worst, especially while studying for another CPA part for the end of February

    AUD - 96 (Jan 15)
    REG - 90 (Feb 15)
    FAR - 85 (Apr 15)
    BEC - 82 (May 15)
