Or at least the ones which will NOT get me banned for life by Jeff. Keep in mind that my exam may not be yours.

First, Ethics and business law…WHAT ethics and business law. I took a tax exam.

1st section of mcqs: Medium easy

2nd section of mcqs: Seemed to definitely be more calculations.

3rd section of mcqs: Same, more calcs. Possibly hard, I’ve never noticed a strong increase for sure.

Nailed the research question, no doubt.

One SIM: Wasn’t terrible but my mind was fried.

One SIM: Was horrendous, just extremetly long across two tabs of information and lots of extra info.

One SIM: The research SIM I nailed, very easy.

One SIM: On a topic I knew but I know I missed some.

One SIM: I was able to use the research tab to do SOME limited research and while the specific SIM wasn’t brutal, trying to find the exact scenario presented was difficult.

One SIM: WHO KNOWS, I cannot for the life of me remember what it was. I sure as shoot hope that I answered it! 😀

That’s all I know. Like Audit, I think I did really well on MCQ’s and poorly overall on SIMS. Did I pass, who knows?

Sounds promising if you think your performance was similar to your 87 🙂

I'm taking REG tomorrow, and I'm freaking out pretty bad since it's my last one. Definitely worried about the sims.

    FAR - Feb 2012 - 86
    BEC - Apr 2012 - 85
    AUD - Apr 2012 - 89
    REG - May 2012 - 78

Which review course did you use? And were the MCQ similar to your review course questions? I'm sitting for reg tomorrow, hoping to be done with this studying.

I used CPAExcel for Ethics and business law. I used Wiley for Taxation.

I exclusively used WILEY for the MCQ's and no doubt the questions in Wiley were much harder than the actual exam. Wiley seemed to really hammer the exceptions to every rule sothe test's MCQ's seemed a little easier.

I feel about the same on the MCQ's but on the SIMS I feel a good bit worse on REG than Auditing. But who knows.

Man I hope you are right….I know it will not be an 80's but if I could just get a 75.00000001 I would just be as thrilled as I possibly could be.

Right now I am so tired I doubt that if the house caught fire I could plan my escape route.

I feel you man. I am taking it tomorrow and don't feel ready at all. I prepared with Becker and feel like they didn't do a good job summarizing the material. Its just toooo much to gasp.

I just took REG today as well (at high noon). I've never felt more angry and disappointed. Like you, the MCQ's were a breeze. I noticed a considerable increase in the second and third testlets, but they were doable. Then came the SIMS. What comes next is no exaggeration…I read through the first one, and chuckled. Must be the pretest. Skip to the next one…ha ha, you're kidding me, right? I chuckled again, but this time without as much emotion. Skip, will answer later. Third one, ah the research. Nailed it within a few minutes. Fourth one, pass…fifth one, pass…sixth one…holy sh**.

For those of you that feel the luck of the draw has nothing to do with it, suck it! 😉 I take responsibility for one that I should have known. I'm almost positive I knew which one was the pretest SIM. The others, I can't help but feel cheated. Maybe that's not the right word. But seriously, I can't believe I got SIMs on these particular topics that were barely covered in both Wiley and CPAExcel. One of them was literally covered in 3 sentences in Wiley. It's just not right. There's absolutely no way I passed. Even if I did awesome on the MCQs, I entirely blew at least 4 of the SIMS. The worst part was telling my family it looks like I'll be studying for this section again.

@sacredtheory, “For those of you that feel the luck of the draw has nothing to do with it, suck it! ;-)” I couldn't agree more. REG is a complete beast. I really do think the worse you feel the better you do!

Hope you guys both see passing grades in a couple of weeks! Rooting for you both

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Agree w/Peanut. I felt completely defeated after retaking REG and passed. No comment on my first try as it was a combination of not enough studying and a timing screw up.

    R - 74;88
    A - 84
    B - 74;89
    F - no study = 67; May 15 = 87 & done

    What concerns me is this…

If I failed, I don't know what I can do any more to pass next time. I've read every word of Wiley, took notes, retyped them, did the question twice. Then came the REG SIMULATIONS.

Not sure what to think. Just glad to have a break.

@sacredtheory I couldn't agree more. I took the REG exam today, my very first section, and had the same exact reaction to the simulations. Becker simulations did not prepare me one bit for the sims that I stared at blankly today. The only one I answered confidently was the research question; the rest might as well have been written in Chinese characters. I wish I had read these forums beforehand so I had some sort of indication as to how awful the sims would be, but even still I don't think any additional preparation would have made much of a difference. Oh well.. on to the next one!

    So basically:

    I nailed the Research SIM

I think I did pretty well on another SIM.

    Moderately well on one SIM

Some credit on the other two.

All in all, I have no idea whether I passed or failed. I could make a 60 or a 75. No grade in the 80's this time for sure.

Wednedsday of next week cannot come soon enough.

Feels like it went well on MCQ's…..felt like a train wreck on many of the SIMS and may be worse than I think because missing a little caveat or rule can change everything.

One of my Sims referenced a tax court decision that was neither in CPAExcel or Wiley….how the heck am I supposed to know how to apply a tax court decision when I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE TAX COURT DECISION WAS! 😀 There, I feel better now.

I know that every exam ever taken is very important, as are the results. And I am in no way putting myself above anyone else. But for me personally this is so much more than about an exam. I had a number of very valid reasons to push this exam back or cancel it all together. I had a number of reasons to just go sit on the couch and watch tv or take a nap. I had ample reasons to just phone it in. I didn’t. I applied myself even harder through the turmoil and heartache and problems and exhaustion (thanks to work). Partially because I remember what getting those carbon paper exam scores with a failing grade felt like.

The other reason is that my pain in the BUTT little 9 year old daughter kept coming up to me, putting an arm on my shoulder, and telling me “Dad, you are a part of this family. And as a part of this family, you must adhere to the family motto…..do you remember what that motto is Dad? That’s right, ‘Never quit’. ‘Never Quit’ doesn’t apply when life is going easy, it applies when life is hard.” Yes, from a 9 year old. And yes, echoing the same exact thing word for word that I have told her (in exactly the same way I told her). She has a flair for the dramatic, I think she’ll end up being a movie Director later in life. Little snot nosed kid! 😀

So if I can eek out a win on this test, it doesn’t matter if I fail FAR twice…I never quit. That never quit just works a lot better when you can pair it with a success! 😀

It's a toss up. Won't be surprised either way. At least this time I get to play in the F5 frenzy of anxiety! 😀 I missed being in that during the last two score releases!
