    Hello Everyone,

I just had a phone interview with a big 4 with someone from US Campus referrals. I think she was from HR as that what there title stated on their linkedin profile.

Interview lasted only lasted approximately 15 minutes. I was asked about the amount of credits I had and my choice of location followed by 3 behavioral questions. They also asked if I had any previous audit experience, I said no.

In the end I was given a chance to ask questions. I asked 2 questions. One about how long they were working with the firm and another regarding a certain topic related to the firm.

In the end they said they would give my information to the hiring mangager and that I will be contacted within 1 to 2 weeks.

Does it seem like I am not going to be given a chance for an in office interview as the interview lasted such a short duration? What are your thoughts?

I am using Becker self study, ninja blitz and Wiley (I am using the paperback version of the testbank)

    Brief overview of study method:
    1. Skim through chapter quickly
    2. Watch lecture videos
    3. Take a lot of notes on what the lecturers emphasize
    4. Complete half HW after lectures half after rewriting notes

I believe its the recruiter that called you, not the hiring manager. This is basically a pre-screen interview and it is not suppose to last longer as you think, unless there's been a plan to interview you exclusively on the phone. He/she needed some information to pass on to the hiring manager and you will be scheduled for in-person interview if the manager is impressed with your resume. Not a big deal.

It will be communicated to you if you're not selected for in-person interview

Cpanovice, did you apply through campus recruitment or it was a referral? Also is it an entry level position? Hope you get good news. Good luck!.

@nigercpa it was through a referral. I believe its an associate position. Did not mention anything about the amount of experience required in the job description. So I guess it's entry level. thanks for the kind words.

Hi cpanovice, a little late to this discussion but I was just wondering what were the next steps after your phone interview if you were selected for a second round interview? Hope you received good news!

Have had phone interviews and office visits with EY and all I learned was that if they talk for a short time it can either be very good or very bad. But at least 10 mins is alright.

Big 4 don't even need a phone call to know if they want a real interview. All they need is your resume. They gave you a call, asked the questions they needed to know. They could call back, they could not.

I wouldn't put too much thought into it. They aren't going to do a full interview over the phone.

    Bec-76 (7/14)
    Aud-81 (8/14)
    Reg-82 (7/15)
    Far- 82 (10/15)

Moral of the story, don't do your CPA while working in Big 4 Public Accounting.

Do you remember the exact questions the HR asked? I have a phone screen next week. Thank you!
