Just Took FAR- Bombed Sims… Still Possible to Pass?

    Hello Everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster on the site. Anyways, I just took FAR today, 7/7/16, and was feeling pretty good after the MCQs (testlets went easy-hard-hard/medium). However, the simulations completely took me for a spin. All of the directions seemed very vague, and even in areas where I understood the concepts it was not clear what the question was asking for. To make matters worse, the research question was crazily hard to find, and I spent too much time searching to no avail. Overall, I do not feel confident on any of the sims, but I took some educated guesses and did not leave any areas blank.

I was averaging about a 90% on 90 question Becker progress tests, and feel completely comfortable with the material. I do not think that any amount of additional studying would have changed anything, as I feel like I just got unlucky with the sims. My question to this board- is it still possible for me to pass? I know it is common to not feel great after the exam, but these simulations went extremely poorly.

    Sorry for the rant. Thanks!

It is much harder to pass if you perform poorly on the sims, nearly impossible if you truly bombed them, BUT just because you feel that you bombed them doesn't mean you actually bombed them. The sims are unpredictable and this exam does have an element of luck … hopefully you end up doing better than you feel.

Almost always from my phone... please excuse my typos!

Yes it is still very possible that you passed. I had a very similar experience with FAR. My MCQs seemed to get harder and more heavy on calculations as I progressed through the test. However SIMS were a completely differently story. My SIMS were pretty brutal, I had two DRS on my test and I didn't feel 100% comfortable about any of the sims. Even my research question took me a while to find and I still wasn't sure if I had gotten the right paragraph and all. I managed to pass. So stay positive, there's still hope 🙂

Thanks everyone. I guess I just have to hope that I get partial credit for some of the zero's that I put in, and that my MCQ's are enough to carry the rest. I just can't imagine starting FAR all over again.
