I was recently invited to an in-office interview with KPMG in my area. It is for a Senior Analyst position with their consulting practice (financial management area). This will be my first Big4 office interview and I am hoping (begging really) that some of you will shed some light into the process based on your own experience.
Multiple interviews? Technical in nature? Questions you asked? Any tips, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
How I got here (cliff notes):
– A few weeks back I posted under a thread titled “KPMG Advisory… Anyone know about them??? Have a phone interview soon.”
– I work in governmental accounting and was trying to gain insight into the advisory practice at KPMG
– Had phone interview with recruiter on a Tuesday about three weeks ago, she was impressed and moved me along to the next step
– Had phone interview with manager the Friday after speaking with the recruiter, he was impressed and said he would contact other candidates prior to setting up office interviews
– Before ending our call, I offered to email him documentation (performance reviews, thank you emails, career development program application) that showed my level of performance at previous jobs
– He accepted my offer and I sent over about ten different pieces of information that same evening
– A day later (Saturday evening) I received an invitation to have dinner with him and an associate the following night (Sunday evening)
– We had a pleasant dinner mainly centered around personal life (what we watch on TV, family life, etc.) but touched on some work topics such as career progression, bonuses, structure of the team, how many people they were looking to hire, etc.
– He said that while he would let the process play out, I was the kind of candidate they were looking for and he hoped to be able to bring me on-board
– At that point, I was the only candidate whom he had invited to dinner
– I was out of town for work all week starting the Monday after our dinner
– Early last week, about a week after our dinner, I received an email from the recruiter confirming that I would be moving on to the office interview stage (yet to be scheduled),
– She also asked me to complete the “full” application and to review some guidance regarding independence from certain clients if hired on
Needless to say, I’m feeling cautiously optimistic while knowing that it isn’t over until an offer is extended. This is the reason for my seeking any bit of help in preparing for this final interview.
