Why was it a joke? I “attended” one about a week ago that had multiple companies. I soon logged out as none of the companies had positions available within my area.

Each line racked up about 40 people within the first five mins. I was part of this early wave and I still had to wait an hour to chat for 7 mins. The KPMG rep basically told me to apply online and gave me the website.

There really wasn't anytime to accomplish anything except have somebody look at your resume for 10 seconds and move on.

Is this typical of college recruiting? I was out of the loop when I was in undergrad.

Not sure what a virtual career fair is but that sounds like the typical career fair.

@lion on the rock. Yes I had the same experience with the virtual career fair earlier this year with KPMG. My experience was similar to yours. After staying in line for about 45 minutes, the recruiter only requested for the location and practice line I was interested in, spent about 5 minutes with me and concluded that I apply on line. I even tried connecting with one of the recruiters on the virtual career fair via LinkedIn, she did not accept my invitation request.

@rp12, I am interested in working in Big4 and I have tried severally to get a phone chat or interview. Unfortunately, I have not received any positive feedback. I have no connections in the firms and so getting a referral seems impossible for me. Do you mind referring me.
