Lecture in one ear out the other… skip and do MPC only?

I’m using Becker’s review and supplementing w/ Ninja MPC bank.

I just started two weeks ago… I did well on F1 (pretty straight forward info). From F2 and on, the lectures make no sense to me. It may be the lecturer (Tim Gearty) who just reads verbatim and tells you to high light the entire page. And I kind of feel like they are using accounting terms I am not familiar with (it’s been 4 years since I graduated so I don’t remember everything).

Should I just forget lectures completely and do MPC until I force learn from my mistakes?

My test is on July 15, so if I read I don’t know if I will have enough time.

Also: How exactly does the Ninja MPC bank work when you do the adaptive learning session? Does it select questions at random or does it pick questions to build your knowledge on a certain topic which will help future questions?

    I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Do the lectures not make any sense or is it more that you just take nothing away from them (or do not get anything out of them)?

@ ikhan89 Hello Pathan, I don't know nothing about Ninja but I do know that Wiley TB. I have used it from Audit, Reg and now for BEC and so far i like it. I reflects the feature on real exams and and you can do random questions or else do question on a specific topic you feel like you are weak on. It also has Simulations, and multiple other features.

I am sorry I am no help since I have not used Ninja but wanted to give a few cents suggestion on Wiley Test Bank.

Sounds like you learn like me – I would start doing MCQ as I think you learn by doing and learning from mistakes. I don't listen to lectures anymore as they are worthless for me

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - 86
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 71, 73

    BEC - 74, 86

    REG - 77*

    FAR - 57

    *expired

(I have been trying to become a CPA since 2013). only one test down.......

    FAR: 63, 55, 62
    REG: 65, 77*
    AUD: Fail, 64, 71
    BEC: 72, 74, 81

    *expired

The lectures may not be necessary, but I think if you aren't going to listen to them, you should at least read the book. This was the lesson I learned with AUD. You can't really learn conceptual things just by answering MCQs.

Watch lectures or read the book for an overview, learn/take from it what you can. Practice learning correct/incorrect answer options from MCQ to refine your knowledge and fill in holes on the subject. Note your weak areas for further review. Additionally, with FAR understanding and learning journal entries is crucial. Practice journal entries with each question whenever possible, this helps with conceptual learning and application (which will be needed for SIMs).

I'm studying BEC. And this is what I'm doing: I saw all the Lectures from Becker. Sometimes it's better lo listen and don't highlight. You can also read the chapter first, so when you go to the Lectures you already have an idea. Then hit MCQs from ninja, where you'll have feedback on what to focus. That's when you hit Becker's Homework on the chapters you need more work.

    Good luck and don't stop!

Just remember MCQS are they key not just Lectures.

Thank for the tip guys. I think I'll try to read the book instead of the lectures. I feel like the lectures are rushing the material so I am not grasping the concept.

I wish the lectures would just show how to work out MCQ's and SIMS over and over for FAR, BEC and REG. Any AUD lecture should just be audio so you can memorize concepts.

I have Beckers flashcards and I don't know if I should use them. When? How?

Can anyone tell me if Flashcards are useful in Bec?
