I left one of the Big 4s back in 2010. I only stayed 3 weeks. It was not a good fit, and I received a better offer around that time. It’s not on my resume. I am interviewing with them again. Should I leave out this fact and hope it doesn’t come back to haunt me, or should I be up front?

And what’s the best reason why I left that won’t get me disqualified???

you should just come clean and tell you why you left and why you are coming back. Better that than to be caught omitting information.

Leave it off-3 weeks of anything is not relevant to your professional experience. If they bring it up, and they may, have a very good explanation prepared as to what is different now than 2010.

I just left Deloitte and I filled out a survey today where they asked if I would ever come back. I said I would and it asked me to provide my contact info so a recruiter could reach out to me within a year. I would not disclose it up front. And if they do ask be truthful that you had a much better offer and you felt at that time that was the right thing for you. But also be prepared to explain why now you are considering coming back. If they don't ask then there is no need to spill your guts.

lol there is no way this goes unnoticed if you don't mention this! Same firm, same city and everything? if it was such a bad fit, why did you apply again?

“And what's the best reason why I left that won't get me disqualified???”

well don't lie. be up front – don't put it on your resume but (if you apply online – make sure that has your full employment history) and definitely bring it up in the interview. if you want to get hired, don't say it was a bad fit (if that's the case, then don't apply you crazy person you). Say you were really young and didn't know what you wanted but now you do. then you'll really have to convince them that you've grown and won't bail on them in the middle of your first busy season.

Lol – my wife thinks I am crazy too, but I have grown up. Deloitte gave me the heebie-jeebies but after working in the industry with their consultants, I want to go back. Not to mention what it does for your career. I am in Advisory not Tax/Audit. And yes, I am on a completely diff coast…
