Through my Google searches I have seen that the ridiculousness that is the list of BEC formulas has been discussed here before. But that was a long time ago and we’re a cooler group so let’s talk about it again.

I have gone through chapters 1-3 in Becker and my head is swollen at the thought of how many BEC formulas I will have to memorize. You guys, please tell me how you did it…give me guidance…I just need so much help!

OK, done with the drama but really, I need some advice here….thank you!

I would study the variances forumulas. It really helped me out.

Had a lot of nightmares with the BEC forumulas. Sheesh.

I know it's hard to believe me at this point in your studies bc I went thru that with bec as well, but as you do the mcqs, things will really come together. Make flash cards with formulas that you see often (COGS, variances, turnover ratios) and when you get a question, rewrite the entire formula and solve. Writing the formula over and over will help it stick! Bec is rough but remember, it's the only test with writing! To some that was scary but maybe to you that's what will help you get to the 75 mark. I know the writing did that for me!

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

Thank you both! The amount of them is overwhelming but you're right, if I just focus on repetition they should hopefully start sticking.

And you're right about the writing, I am a strong writer 🙂 Let's just hope I either a) know the material or b) can bs my way out of it in a efficient and timely manner.

    hi everyone,

i'm just starting my CPA journey and will take the first part of the exam, BEC in 6 weeks. i am worried about all the possible formulas i will try to memorize too… but it sounds like FAR would require the knowledge of way more formulas than BEC? of course i wouldn't know since i haven't taken FAR, but i feel like if you passed FAR, the BEC formulas are like 2nd grade – so to speak..

    thoughts?

    BEC 65, 71, 75
    AUD 62, 70, 78
    REG 67, 66, 65, 66, 64
    FAR 68, 64, 73

    BEC - 75 (3x)
    AUD - 78 (3x)
    REG - 67, 66, Aug 1
    FAR - 54, Sept 8

I made a study guide with all BEC formulas on it and have been taking it with me reading it when I have a second…I also made four or five blank copies and every once in a while I test myself. You will be surprised how much you retain.

^ this is basically what I've been doing. I'll initially write the new formula at least 5-6 times and then rewrite the entire list from memory with the new formula and then rinse and repeat for new ones I come across. So far I'm retaining them.

    FAR 8/18/2014--87
    AUD 10/18/2014--78
    REG 11/24/2014--76
    BEC 2/28/2015--76

I would study equations like CAPM and truly understand the variables that encompass the equation. BWOOP!

    AUD: DONE
    FAR: DONE
    BEC: DONE
    REG: DONE

IM GOING TO BE A CPA!!!!!
