Does anyone know the time frame after you pass your exam before your credit expires?

I have been at my current job in industry for 10 years. While I have the experience, my former boss (the only CPA at our company) was let go from the company on bad terms. I am not sure I am going to be able to obtain verification from him. We work with a midsize accounting firm who prepares our taxes, but I don’t think my interaction with them will qualify for experience. So, I am probably going to have to obtain my experience another way. I am thinking some part time work with a small CPA. I do not want to quit my job, so it will be very part time. I am wondering how long I have to complete this before my exam credit runs out. I have looked online, but can’t seem to find anything.
