Hello , This is my first post and hope to be more interactive here on .

Till now i have been reading threads only (One way traffic) .

Anyways . Here is my situation .

I have been with becker and plan to write next month with 10 to 12 days break for every section . I have got a lot of recommendation to make my own notes , So i thought i will give a try . I started yesterday and its like i rewrite at least 40-50% of the text book . Is that really the way to make notes ? Spent almost 4 hours to write 16 becker pages in to 7 A4 pages as notes . Now i feel that i am wasting my time , I could have completed one chapter lecture in that 4 hours .

    So ,

    1) Should i really make notes ? (I don’t feel the benefits like every one says)

    2) My method of making notes is wrong ? How do u actually make it ?

    3) I was thinking of substituting it to ninja notes (I have already put everything for becker and Wiley MCQ)

    4) Study like the traditional way , Lectures, MCQ, exam .

Your comments will be appreciated .

    Thank you

It is not enough to make notes. You also have to memorize the notes.

The best way is to create a study guide: a question and answer with yourself.

    For example, the note:

    Exchange rate fluctuations:

Payable in Fx benefits from depreciation of Fx.

Receivable in Fx benefits from appreciation.

    Now make a hypothetical question:

How does the exchange rate affect payables and receivables?

So when you study, hide the answer and just read the question. Then answer the question in writing.

This is my method. You do it over and over until you can recreate the entire review book from memory (in outline format).

This is in addition to MCQs and SIMS of course.

But if you can do the first, with practice, you will hit 95% of the MCQs.

I make notes as I go through the MCQ, not while reading or watching lectures. I did that for FAR and have 100 pages of notes for half of the book. I stopped because it was too overwhelming.

I personally only highlight my textbook and jot down notes in the margins. Then I wind up reading my book about twice before I take the exam. This worked for me, maybe it will for you too. Everyone is different; some people swear by notes.

I'm not sure how Becker lectures are, but I take notes while watching the lectures from my software. If you learn by taking notes, maybe you should switch what you are taking them on. If you don't learn by taking notes then don't take them.

Thank you for your comments . Really appreciate it .

Frankly speaking , I am considering every once suggestions . Make confusing points notes(short version), Write down incorrect MCQs, Highlight the less important notes directly on the text book .

@M.O.D. : I like the example notes. Should i note all the important points or just the confusing once (Which i think i need to re read them)
