Is anyone else getting a brutal amount of Malware and popups on here and the ninja site? I ran my Antivirus to no effect and can barely use my laptop. 🙁

Can you be more specific? I don't run 3rd party ads.

Oh no! I wasn't implying that it was intentional Jeff. Didn't mean to come off that way. Something called “meg.picnickedinterests”…I get, literally, 30 popups about system repair, PC fixes, etc.

I solely use my laptop for studying…the only three sites in my browser history for months are wiley, ninja, and another71. It's weird….my Antivirus didn't detect it when I scanned.

No worries at all…just trying to figure it out.

I'm 99.578% sure it didn't come from here.

Well dang. Don't suppose anyone knows how to remove something like this? 🙁 I need to study tonight.

Ok, restoring Chrome settings and manually deleting all extensions seemed to do the trick. Phew.

Look kindly upon my laptop this evening, oh CPA gods. I implore thee!

Oh, and thanks for the Blitz, Jeff! Gonna put on some coffee and watch them all tonight.

if you are using a windows machine download malwarebytes free, update it and let it run. i also use ccleaner free to clean up all the crap that piles up. save the file it asks you to if you run the registry cleaner. for really stubborn stains malwarebytes has a beta rootkit cleaner that will work. these two tools do different things and have always been very good for my use. the rootkit saved my life one day. and obviously pay attention to your antivirus and make sure it is keeping itself up to date.

next time we will talk about mac filtering on your network router, if you'd like.

Yeah…malware and viruses are different things, so malwarebytes will find things that your antivirus won't. Also, Spybot will find things sometimes that neither of the others did. I don't pay for any of my computer-protection-software, but between Spybot, Malwarebytes, and antivirus, usually anything can be prevented and/or removed. Spybot is a “heavy” program, though, and seems to slow my computers down, so I'll usually uninstall it after a problem is fixed, then re-download when I have an issue again.

AVG and Avast are both pretty good free antiviruses. Which one is better changes frequently.

Lol @credit – I’m so sorry. I wasn’t really replying to your post. I was just saying there are less security risks and malware with a Mac in general. What about Microsoft Security Essentials? I haven’t used a PC in a few years, but I know some people who run that as their anti-virus and it is free.

Thank you for the info. I may throw my computer in the bonfire with the rest of my study material when this is over anyways.
