Unless someone else/company is paying for it, I wouldn't bother. If one wants to stay in the accounting profession, depending on their area, I'd complement the CPA with another certification instead. Maybe a CIA.

I have some low level management experience and don't think I would pursue a degree tailored to management until I actually accomplished something in the real world. I wouldn't get an MBA from a low tier college either which is a problem since I have a 2.9 gpa. Maybe in 10 years I can get a MBA from UCBerkeley….

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I got my MBA to meet the 150 hour requirement. Thought I may as we'll take 14 classes and get a degree rather than just take 8 more undergrad classes.

    AUD 2/3/14, 90
    BEC 4/1/14, 88
    REG 5/27/14, 94

    Licensed CPA, Indiana

Unless you want to change your field, I wouldn’t recommend going for a full-time MBA program following CPA. I think good experience would be more helpful for you at this time.

Experience + CPA + MBA is great in my opinion, but I'm biased because I have 2 of the 3 and hope to have the 3rd this year. 🙂

Hey CPAMommy, how has the studying for REG been going? I'm sure you will nail it and be done with this nightmare. I finished up in May and it feels so great to have all this free time back. Now, just waiting on NY state to issue my license, it will take another ten weeks they said.

I didn't find REG too difficult, but I have a good amount of tax experience and did well in business law in college. I'm sure you will do just fine, judging by the rest of your previous scores.

REG is going okay. I've done a lot, but still have a lot to do before Saturday. Congrats on being DONE! It must be a great feeling. I still have to take 4 upper level accounting classes when I'm done with the CPA so I won't get my last until next year.
