Medical devices allowed in testing room?

I’ve gotten sick recently (time off work in the hospital = extra study time) and I’m getting released in time to take FAR on the 18th. However, I will be required to wear a medication pump 24/7 pumping continuous medicine into me for the next four weeks. I looked at the Prometrics site, and it says special accommodations must be requested before I schedule my exam.

I don’t want to cancel my exam, because there is only one testing site in the area (next nearest one is 400 miles) and it is booked solid for November. And my NTS expires at the end of November.

I know the answer is I need to call and talk to Prometrics….. but has anyone else had any luck getting last minute accommodations for temporary medical devises such as crutches or casts or other last minute stuff?

Each Prometric is so different in how accomodating they are. It sounds like this medical device became necessary after you scheduled, so that should go in your favor. I've tested at 2 Prometric facilities, and 1 of them I'm sure would've been accomodating, the other I'm sure would've said “It's not strictly by the rules, we won't do it”…so sadly, the answer can vary despite what the rules say, so your personal Prometric staff are the only ones who can answer. However, I'm quite sure that one of my centers would've happily accomodated, so hopefully yours is like that. 🙂

Agreed. If you find a Prometric you like you STICK with it. Lucky for me I've been with the same one, 2 miles from my house through 2 CMAs and 3 CPA exams…each time they have been awesome and it's to the point that I won't even bother looking at other locations in the area if I can't get a date I need, I just work around what they have. It really can make a difference on exam day.

As for the OPs actual question…I imagine they SHOULD…but to Lilla's point, it could vary drastically from site to site…

    MBA,CMA,CPA, CFF?, ABV?

So before I called the main number for Prometric to find out what I would need to do to get permissions, I called my Prometric site. Talked to the main lady there, she verified that there are actual tubes going into my arms and the pump device would be under the desk where I wouldn't be able to access it without it being very obvious on camera, and she said not to worry about it. So no extra dispensation, rescheduling or accommodation letters needed. Hooray for real and reasonable people!!!
