So, my mom loves to talk about my accomplishments, and that does not bother me. However, I have have met many people that say “So you are the CPA.” Ofcourse, my first reaction is “No, I am not a CPA, but am currently taking the exam to become a CPA.” Yesterday was the final straw. I have told my mom multiple times that she cannot tell people that I am a CPA in the loving way all children should.
With that said, I had to be outright rude to my own mother after my Great Grandmother’s funeral yesterday. Stupid questions/statements:
What’s the big deal?, Does it really matter?, and “It’s not like they are going to tell anybody.”
I had to explain to her what would happen if someone decided that I was misrepresenting myself. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Was I right in getting angry?
