On your journey to 150 Credit Hours, what class did you take for college credits that was the most pointless.

2 of my 150 credit hours was a class for Rock Climbing.

When I graduated college, I only had 139 credit hours. I therefore had to go to school the summer after for the rest of my credits. That summer, I took Health, US History 101, and Baseball statistics so that I could be a CPA.

I have almost 200 semester hours due to changing my major several times but since I was on an academic scholarship most of the time, I could take up to X number of credit hours so I occasionally got to throw in Tennis and Bowling classes 🙂

I have almost 200 undergraduate hours due to major and school changes.

The 30 extra hours for my Masters was really for me! 😉 Almost all of my cousins have advanced degrees (2 PhDs, 2 JDs, 2 Masters, 4 in Masters programs currently, and one still undergrad but will definitely go to grad school.) I felt like I was slacking with just a BS….

My MBA- overkill for the credits I needed but at least not totally useless. I choose to do my MBA online so its not going to carry as much weight as a top school, but I was about 25 plus credits short and the MBA is only 35ish. I didn't want to take 25 credits worth of basket weaving and figured that an MBA, even if done online, still carries some weight.

Just finished coaching basketball, swimming, personal finance (half of the class was very basic individual tax stuff), and earthquakes & natural disasters to hit 150 hours on the dot. Granted I was working 30 hours a week too, but it was nice to not have to study for anything but the CPA 🙂

I have 81 graduate credits because I took a detour into education for a couple of years. Probably the most useless class I ever took was as an undergrad in community college I was required to take that Word/Excel class. I'd been an office manager for 3 years, I knew almost as much about manipulating an excel spreadsheet as the instructor! The in-class assignments were scheduled to take 2 class periods – I would consistently finish halfway through the first one. After every class, I'd ask the instructor if I needed to be there next time. He was very understanding. But, I was in that class when 9/11 happened so that's something to remember…

I have a BA in Psychology and a BS in Accounting so that covered my 150 hours pretty easily. I did take a couple classes that could be considered pointless: stress management and cycling. I actually really enjoyed cycling, and oddly enough stress management was pretty stressful.

    Accounting Information Systems.

Our professor had a meltdown mid-semester and ended up (1) giving As to everyone; (2) stripping completely during the last class. It was on TV/in the newspapers.

I do not know squat about AIS. Probably will pay for it while studying for BEC.

@sandra6500 – God, NO. First, it was obvious he needed a serious help. Second, there was not much to look at 🙂 Third, I was seriously scared he would bring a gun one day and shoot himself…along with a couple of students.

However, when he stripped, our guys who, for some reason, mostly had first-row sits, were SOMETHING to look at lol.

We asked him out for drinks before the class that day; and he had a nerve to show up!

Ahh, good times. Much better than FAR.

“Movement and Dance for the Performance Artist”

I thought it would be super easy, learn how to fake fight, interpretive dance, miming. But we also had to learn how to tap and do some pretty real ballet. I came home super sore and still had to practice my routines. They were the hardest “easy” credits ever.

I have probably have close to 275 quarter credits. I've totally forgotten what the ratio of quarter to semester is since now my application for the exam has long been complete. 225 were for my BS which was in Physiology and then I took all my 24 Accounting units at a UC extension and my remaining 12 business admin units at a city college.

I'm exhausted. I've been in some form or school or studying for every years since I graduated college except for the first one (12 years!) All you accountants can now calculate my age 😛

Anyhow, the most useless class I took was Intro to Geology. It was my last quarter and I wasn't even a full time student!

I'm so thankful that my 3 quarters of calculus and 1 quarter of stats counted towards my Bus Admin units because I hated those classes, especially Stats!

I did take yoga for credit, but I don't necessarily think it was pointless. I worked full-time while taking a full class load, so I think it helped keep my stress levels low.

That reminds me I also had to take an extra class my last semester because I had too many Business/Accounting classes and not enough general ones. So I signed up for some easy Math class. I was a senior with all these young freshman. I remember one day we had to learn y=mx+b again and I just about went crazy. It seemed like I learned that in 8th grade or earlier even. I was always able to finish homework in class and I often just ditched it and the teacher didn't seem to care. It was the type of class that was too easy it was boring. No mental stimulation, but easy A.

Two of my favorites were psychology of ethnic humor and stress management. We spent most of the psych class watching chris rock, carlos mencia, richard prior and the likes and talking about why they were funny. Good stuff.
