Counting the time I sat for the paper and pencil exam in 2003 as four, I sat for a total of 16 sections before finally passing. Can anyone beat me?

    AUD - 51, 80
    REG - 84
    FAR - 15, 29, 55, 80
    BEC - 65, 72, 69, 76 (expired), 83

My next exam will be my 20th and hopefully last exam… I gave up temporarily but came back

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

I don't mean to jack your thread but I am interested in your opinion. Which do you think was harder, the pencil and paper format or the computer format? You are one of the few people that has taken both.

JoMarie was in the low 30's, I believe. Today she's a CPA.

The thought of a score expiring before I can pass FAR gives me nightmares (literally). I have a lot of respect for anyone that can keep going after losing a score.

    REG - 75

Yeah memmy, losing a score is a huge blow to the motivation. Just happened to me, by 1 freaking point. I still feel close to the finish though, as long as I can get through BEC which I just got a 74 on.

Anyways, I'm on test #10 now I believe. But I may be missing one or two lol. Pretty embarrassing. I think I lack effort more than lack of knowledge. I refuse to give up things in life I enjoy.

    REG - 68 | 71 | 88 | 86
    FAR - 72 | 74 | 79
    AUD - 66 | 70 | 77
    BEC - 62 | 74 | 80

    Guess that means I'm a soon-to-be CPA!

It's crazy. Then you have to pass the exam you haven't been able to pass yet…plus retake one you passed a long time ago. Must be daunting, but I guess if you have the drive that's all that matters. I know myself too well…I wouldn't be able to push on.

@BHDave – It's difficult to give a fair comparison since it was so long ago, but the old format was such a mental (and physical) grind having to sit in an auditorium for 14 hours over two days. I'm not sure I would've continued my CPA journey had I not been given the opportunity to focus all my mental energy on one part at a time. Like most others have said, we are tested on much more material now, but the exam experience was more difficult then.
