    I’m 0/3, and I’m totally deflated.

Thinking of taking possibly 2 retakes (BEC and maybe audit) and a completely new section in the Q4 window. Is that a good idea? I don’t think I need more than 40-50 hours for the 3rd attempt at both BEC and audit, and then put in 100 for REG. I really want to focus on passing BEC and Audit but I feel l like I should maximize the testing window and take REG too.

    BEC 65, 71, 75
    AUD 62, 70, 78
    REG 67, 66, 65, 66, 64
    FAR 68, 64, 73

    BEC - 75 (3x)
    AUD - 78 (3x)
    REG - 67, 66, Aug 1
    FAR - 54, Sept 8

I did two tests per period. Retakes are NOT necessarily easier since you're restudying the material. It might be slightly easier due to the fact that you might not get stuck as much. To me, it's not the hours you're studying (quantity), it's the quality. Are you really getting the material? And then, in some areas, it's just pure memorization.

I would try not to flip flop between parts. I just like to take one part at a time approach. That is just me. I don't see a point in going to REG until you pass one of the 2 parts you already have going. Just focus on AUD now. Then go back to BEC. Try scheduling REG in Q1 of 2016.

If you studied, say 100 hours to get a 71 in BEC, plan on 120 hours (more) for a retake.

If you try to convince yourself you need 4 more points you're setting yourself up to fail again. Read around on here, the mentality of “I only need 40 more hours” rarely works.

My own personal experience after multiple failures is that if you take 2 per window and you're not passing, 2 per window is a mistake.

    Interesting feedback.. thanks all.

I have Ninja 10pt Combo for BEC & Audit, and CPAExcel Platinum. I've gone through all the MCQs for both review courses and I'm obviously not understanding all the concepts. Do I need to get a fresh set of MCQs to avoid memorization and to get a new/different way of explaining concepts to me?

If I was you, I would start off with reading textbook or Ninja Notes and then do MCQ's Mostly all CPA course vendors have same MCQ's give or take 100 at most. Gleim, and Wiley claim that they have most MCQ's. I you want Wiley book check out in Amazon.

Have you re-written the notes? Are you watching all of the CPAExcel lessons? I only gave myself 5 weeks for my first REG take, got a 71, gave myself another month of review and jumped up to 88.

I read the Wiley book for BEC and watched the videos. And for Ninja I read the book for Audit and did MCQs for both. I am probably not focusing as much as I need to and just going through the motions…. especially if I don't understand a concept I know I'm not doing enough to nail it down.

AUD then BEC. Write out note cards, I had approximately 200 for AUD. Memorization seemed to be more important for AUD and BEC, practicing questions for FAR and REG was more beneficial.

@Claudia408 I agree with the above posters on sticking with one exam per window, especially if you're not passing. Since you just took BEC I would do BEC next after you finish AUD. Have you tried Yaegar or Roger? I think both are really good explaining the material for BEC. I didn't pass because I probably focused on learning the material so thoroughly that I didn't get a chance to practice enough MCQs, especially enough to tackle those trickier questions. If you don't want to invest on the whole program I suggest getting the cram on either one, Roger being probably better in explaining the material on a high level and Yaegar going through the MCQs (especially the tougher) ones.

First of all, worry about AUD first.

Deal with the retakes later. Your priority is AUD on Aug 14th.
