    I work for PwC and it is my first week working for them. I work from 8 am till 6 pm Monday to Friday.it takes about an 45 mins to drive from home to work and the same time going back home, so in total around 12 hours are out of my control. I talked to my boss about releasing me early like around 3 or 4 pm so I could have enough time to study, but he refused, so I asked him if I can study, but he also refused because I will have so much work and I won’t be able to study.

    PLEASE EVERYONE, I need you advise, I am going to have my FAR exam in May and I am wondering if I should leave PwC and just get all my free time for studying, or I should keep working and give a try if I can handle both CPA and work.

    When did i NOT give props to the person with a family??? I shouldnt have stated that “the mental focus and determination it takes to stay in the game and not get discouraged is greater, in my opinion, for a person with no family”, because I don't think this is true. I didnt express that in the right way. If i offended anyone, I am sorry for that. But I stand by my opinion that although there are different trials for each type, both routes are strenuous and difficult for either party and I dont think that just because one has a family it is harder.

    And CPApending, I dont think you have the right to utter such words. I can tell from your posts/quotes that failure is a big part of your life. You shouldnt be so quick to talk.

    I guess this happens on baseball, football and other sports forums during the offseason! 😀

    The tests are largely over for the quarter and the natives are restless.

    @75

    CPA is not required here, but it is preferred to have it, especially if you seek to be a manager or partner in the future.

    @the original poster….why would you quit a Big 4 job just to pass the CPA Exam? Are they telling you that you must pass or they will dump u? If I were you I would stay there for 2 years, get a job anywhere and work on the exam..One last thing, don't waste your money on review materials, use CPAReviewForFree. just my 3 cents.

    HS drama plz go on….lol

    @mIa – Yeah, but I'm sure you wouldn't recommend doing so. The chances of passing using just that site are significantly reduced than if you were to use a more traditional review course. I just dont understand why you wouldn't want to give yourself the best possible chance of passing.

    @Mini….I'm actually serious about CPAReviewForFree. I have no clue what other people's exam looked like, but mine wasn't anything like Wiley or CPAExcel. It looked more like CPAReviewForFree. Even if the exam had been open book and 8 hours long I'm convinced it would have the same thing….I'm actually thinking about writing the AICPA and calling the guys from the Guiness Records, so I can have the record for the person with the lowest score on the exam's history…lol…I even dreamt about taking the exam again, and I still could not get the answers….I need to find mental help I think…

    I think people in general are approaching the exam the wrong way. This whole thought about wanting the review materials to LOOK like the exam is weird to me. The review courses are there to help you UNDERSTAND the material. The whole point of the exam is to prove that you are proficient in the various topics. If you learn the material and you understand the concepts it doesnt matter what the exam looks like.

    Edit:

    Technically, the review courses are there to reinforce what you should already know, but I think most of us agree that most of the people who take the exams are learning the concepts from the review material.
