My experience with FAR today

Hi guys! I am finally home! Prometric today took 45 minutes to sit me for my exam. I had never waited that long and it was a little annoying, especially since I was racing to get there on time. There were people that had been waiting for an hour…something about the CPA exams not launching. I just tried my best to ignore that, remain calm and make conversation with the other test takers in the waiting area, who looked like they could use something to distract them. Exchanging war stories for a bit made the wait seem faster. Literally right before I was called in I felt one of my migraines creeping in, which seriously took away from the fun testing experience. Bummer.

As far as the actual exam, the whole plan of leaving 2 hours for the sims was a total and complete failure. I took one entire hour on the first testlet and I was racing after that. Nothing seemed out of left field, which is a good thing, but at the same time I had to guess on quite a few, so I have no idea how I did. Took a break after testlet 2 with 2 hours left. When it was time for the SIMS I had only 1 hour and 14 minutes left. 15-20 more minutes would have been great to help me research the answers I didn’t know. I had to right-out guess on a couple of parts here and there.

All in all, it was as awful as a FAR exam will go, but I think my materials prepared me well for it. If I fail it’s because I did not review enough, and I know that. Will be ecstatic if I pass but won’t be surprised if I fail.

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

I'm sure you did better than you think Amay!! I have never had to wait to walk into my test. I think it would make me a nervous wreck if I had to do that. I am completely unable to talk to anyone before the exam, much less a bunch of strangers. Arrrgggg is what I feel for you right now. I'll be checking the score release for you next Friday! Fingers crossed!

Sometimes your best guess or your gut instinct is the right answer. Good Luck!

Thanks @cpamommy! Yeah I honestly don't consider myself the talking to strangers kind, but looking around at everyone's nervous stressed-out faces, I figured why not? After that everyone started talking and smiling and one by one we were all called in. I like to think my powers helped. Haha.

@kimboroni Thank you! I know, can't believe it's over. It has been 5 weeks of hell.

@kricket I really really hope my guesses were the right answers..not all of them…just enough to get me a 75. That's all I ask 🙂

@NYC Thanks, I hope so too! And thanks for your explanations those couple of nights ago in the Q1 study group thread when I was cramming. Believe it or not, I was trying to recall one of your explanations during my test.

Hoping Amay that you and I passed. I took mine yesterday and am walking around in a state of shell shock today. I think I worked way too fast through my testlets because I was so worried about the Sims. I can barely remember any questions (except of course the ones that I know I got wrong). I know that one of my sims is wrong and have been kicking myself all night for the stupid way I answered it. Too scared to move onto audit because I thick I'm going to have to do a reschedule of FAR the first week of April.

    REG - Nov 4, 2013: 88
    FAR - Feb 27, 2014: 86
    AUD - April 5, 2014: 91
    BEC - May 6, 2014: 83

    Florida CPA 24 July 2014
(Done in seven months - thank you Jesus!!)
