    NINJA Question –

To start – let me first go by saying that today I received the news that I passed my final exam. First things I did were, go and tell my boss (the managing partner), called my Dad (a fellow CPA), then my fiancé and then proceeded to take a walk and even shed a few tears. This was a short walk cause it is cold outside.

As we all know and are currently experiencing the whole process is NOT easy. Devoting the time that is necessary, staying positive, balancing work to name a few causes extreme stress during the experience.

One thing I did do was make it clear to my fiancé that I need her 100% support, which she provided and has dealt with moods and emotions a lot better than I would have. I also then pushed away anyone in my life that did not provide the support I needed. I feel like this was the hardest thing to do but really helped in achieving the goal of PASSING the exam.

With that all said. I am obligated to give a sincere THANKS to Jeff Elliot. There has been many times that I have e-mailed him with questions, comments, issued and he was there and quick.

My only study material was the 10 point combo. I tried the books but Im not one to be able to sit and learn the material in that fashion. I also said to myself that I am trying to pass an exam and not master the material. The 10 point combo did exactly that for me. Days would start with Audio on my commute to and from work. I would come home and work the Wiley Test BankMCQS one section at a time. I would always do practice sections, in 20-30 questions clips, so that I can read why I got an answer wrong. I would make sure that I saw everyone questions at least once by using the filtering. Next would be filter all questions I got incorrect at least 1 time. Do these and read through why I got any wrong. Next would be 2x in the same fashion. I then would do “questions I seen fewer than one time.” Making sure that I mastered it one section at a time. Once that MCQ was complete I would hit the notes and read the respective section. Finally I hit the flashcards which most of the time were done when I was laying it bed. Flashcards were done until I knew each section progress bar was blue (mastered).

I suggest a month of studying with atleast 2-3 hours a weekday and 18 on the weekends.

The 10 point combo is geared to assist you in passing the exam and not mastering the material. We are not trying to master the material. We can do that in our professional careers. All we need to do is PASS the exam.

    My scores:

    BEC – 79

    REG – 81

    AUD – 82

    FAR – 86

I passed all sections using the 10 point combo only.

My method may not work for all but I wanted to share my experience. It also saves some bucks going the 10 point combo route instead of a full blown Becker or comparative review course.

Stay disciplined, remember all that is needed is a PASS.

    Thanks Jeff!!!
