My FAR sims

The sims I had on FAR were easy. I’m not saying this in a bragging way or anything like that. They were all topics covered in becker thoroughly. Since this was my first test I was expecting them to be ridiculous after reading all the posts about sims that were so crazy and not even covered in any study materials in some cases. My question is does anyone think sims could be easier depending on how you did on MC? I know they say they are independent but have people gotten easy sims and failed and hard sims and passed? Was I just lucky? This fact is giving me a weird feeling lol

I had one SIM I would consider hard, but I knew how to do it. I still managed to miss one J/E (essentially 1/3 of the SIM), just because it was the last SIM and I was totally fried. I had a similar situation occur with an AUD SIM and still squeezed by. Hoping for similar results.

    AUD - 82
    BEC - 81
    FAR - 82
    REG - 88

For the most part, my FAR exam contained SIMS that were all covered well in Becker. There was one, maybe two, that I couldn't even match to a Becker chapter, but that seems to happen to most candidates on every section. Even though the topics I was assigned were covered well, there were a bunch of strange twists and curve balls that I had to guess on. It sounds like you may have just gotten very lucky!

yea it seems like it was luck, from everything I've read and heard the sims seem to completely independent of MC. I mean how can they not be? they are still 40% either way, The only way is that easier sims coulb be graded tougher, like maybe you need to be accurate on easier sims. I wouldn't doubt that.

My first FAR exam I “felt” that the sims were easy. I was saying how lucky I was when I was done not to have any J/E sims and even to have gotten 2 research questions. I thought I had a good handle on all the SIMS but one. Two of them seemed super easy, I wish I could say the topic to really stress how easy those topics were. My gut told me I passed, but my score of a 70 said otherwise. My report said I was stronger in MCQ and weaker on sims. I was shocked, because till this day I don't recall feeling “troubled” working the sims and still don't know where I went wrong. I even had time to spare at the end of the exam.

On the retake, the SIMS were a nightmare!!! I mean I had to fight tears and keep myself from throwing in the towel. II swear, when I thought I knew what I needed to do none of the “answers” I was looking for were there. J/E's left and right, and just one reasearch. I ran out of time before I could get to one the sims, and all the others I touched I had no confidence it with exception of the research questions. I just knew I had failed because of the sims. Ended up with an 82…

So I've concluded this exam is totally unpredictable. There is too many variable factors into grading in every 20 day interval. I don't know what the answer to this one is…AUD I don't recall have trouble with the SIMS over all and I did do well on the exam, but FAR was different outcome.

All you can do is play the waiting game and see how your feeling translates when you get the score. I wish there was a cut and dry answer to predicting the outcome of these tests after you take them lol.

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
    BEC - 79 - Pass
    FAR - 70,82 - Pass

Each of the times I've taken FAR I've received Weaker on SIMS…I know I could've passed each and every attempt had I been able to handle the SIMS (and in the last attempt FINISH the SIMS) in a more focused manner.

SIMS are my main challenge…I think I get tense because of the format (having to split the screens and scroll up and down the information tab a billion times to answer the lengthy ones)…the system set up really does not help with the management of time.

Oh well, there's no point in complaining about it, because that's not going to change anything…I just need to manage my time better. That's it and that's all.

***I just had an epiphony: perhaps I will write down all of the vital info all at once on my scrap paper so that I don't have to keep scrolling when I'm trying to answer the problem….??? That way the only split screen I should need is the Authoritative Lit. if needed…

    Is this a good strategy??

I can't speak for FAR, but my REG sims were what I considered easy and I passed it. There has been a lot of chatter about how much of a nightmare REG sims are and I don't doubt it, but people who thought their sims were just awful for REG ended up passing with flying colors.I am in total agreement with so1913 when she says “this exam is totally unpredictable.” You can't change it so just go with it. Good luck!

    AUD: Attempt 1: 60; Attempt 2: 78
    BEC: Attempt 1: 75 (lost credit); Attempt 2: 80
    FAR: Attempt 1: 74; Attempt 2: 74; Attempt 3: 78
    REG: Attempt 1: 76 (lost credit); Attempt 2: 68; Attempt 3: 80

    Finished 11/01/2013!!!

I agree too, “unpredictable”! And most candidates' feelings about how they did on the exam are wrong. Not all of course. You may be right on the mark with how you perceived the exam.

I felt so lost on FAR it was almost comical. I could not believe how many IFRS questions there were and I was not prepared for them. There were IFRS Sims. I was positive I failed but I passed with an 81.

    Best of luck to you.

I thought my SIMS on FAR were pretty easy also. Maybe not easy, but none of them were totally out of left field and one of the SIMS was REALLY easy. I'm positive I got my research question wrong and I got comparable on SIMS and weaker on mc. That was how I felt during the exam too.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
