Need advice! Busy season vs. Far and Reg this window vs. CA additional reqs

    Ninjas I need your advice,

    Considerations:

    1. As of right now I am scheduled to take REG in two weeks. I haven’t done anything but written notes on the 2nd half (business law section) and done about 20 MCQ. Panic is setting in as busy season is in full effect for the next 4-5 weeks.

    2. I am also scheduled to retake FAR right before Thanksgiving. This is the exam that has eaten up my year, but I feel confident that with a little more studying I will eventually get it.

    3. I am trying to pass them all before 2014 other wise back to school I go! Which I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t cost so much for just a couple of units.

    4. My BEC and AUD expire in Spring 2014…if they do, I don’t how I will bring myself to continue this…its been the biggest stress in my life for the past 3 years.

I would think by this point I would have this more figured out. Everytime I start studying again it is a different method and I never feel like there is enough time.

I JUST want to be done!!!

So, do I still give REG a shot in two weeks? or drop it and focus on FAR for the rest of this week?

The real “meat and potatoes” of REG is the tax stuff, which it sounds like you haven't gotten into much. Are you a tax guy? If not, hmm, you'd probably really have to bust your butt to go over all the tax material in two weeks. At least compressing your study time in such a short period, you shouldn't have to review much. If you think you can get through the tax stuff (which is quite a bit!) in two weeks, I would say go for it. But you're definitely gonna have to up the MCQs, given that so many of the MCQs on the exam will be computational. Even if you know the material, if you haven't practiced working MCQs to get a feel for what you need to do, it can be difficult to get them right.

I don't recall what the rescheduling policy is for Prometric, but I would give it right up until the fees start getting really high (is it like five days before the test?) and reevaluate your situation then. If you've made it through a lot of the tax material and feel comfortable with it, keep your test date; if you have slacked off a bit and don't feel very comfortable, go ahead and reschedule it then.

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)

You may want to consider postponing an exam to Dec 6.

I'd also look at your NTS when does this expire? If it expires prior to Jan 1, i'd take the both this window.

Another thought is how soon does the exam you passed first, expire? And how busy is Jan – Feb?

Lots of things to consider, but my big one would be – what happens if i fail this quarter? For me I will lose REG which is why I am working my butt off to get the last one done. Plus i don't want to have to pay another $600 in fees.

    Reg 82; FAR 75; AUD 91; BEC 11/9/13; result due - 11/22/13

I'm leaning toward postponing, but it wouldn't be until Jan. I'm taking FAR at the end of Nov and don't think I can fit REG in too at this point…

I keep telling myself that I have to take it slow in order to get anywhere with these exams.

    @Hustlin,

I had the same dilemma….I want to be done with FAR for cryin out loud, I wanted to fit at least two test in this window, but I found it impossible with FAR. So I thought I was going to ditch Far and go with Aud and Reg. After further consideration I think I will stick with Far and finish the rest in '14. I know how you feel, sometimes we have to just calm down and take it a step at a time. Frustrating but I know how you feel. Good luck though…..

    Hustlin,

I know how your audit busy season can be. My boyfriend is an auditor like you. But I also know how determined you were last year and how you defeated your first passes. I know you can do this. Can you do REG mcq's nonstop for two weeks in your “freetime”? As for FAR I recommend getting Yaeger Cram. I passed audit with it and my boyfriend passed Reg(each our respective weaknesses).

    Hang in there!!! Good luck!!!!
