    1. is Acctg Info Sys (AIS) interchangeable with international acctg systems?

    2. Also: Auditing vs. Forensic Acctg. too similar?

    3. is Microcomputer Applications for Accountants (ACC 306) an important prereq?

    4. is Gov’t and not-for-profit Acctg (ACC 410) an important prereq?

taken: auditing, fed taxatn., Acctg info sys, intermediate, managerial, and fn acctg. etc. I do not want to take interchangeable (similar) classes. Any advise please? i.e. what are ideal classes to take? I have a degree in Finance, and an MBA. Any tips will be appreciated.

    Thanks1

    Thanks!

I think people will want more info to be able to respond. What are the prereqs for? Why are you taking classes? Are you just trying to get the 150 hours? What state are you testing in?

I would say that Government and Non-Profit are an important component of the FAR exam, however your review course will cover this material and I wouldn't recommend taking the classes unless you are trying to satisfy the hours requirement.

I don't think Auditing and Forensic accounting would overlap much – If you are interested in Forensic accounting and need the hours go ahead and take it but I doubt the Forensic accounting class would add anything in terms of the exam.

Microcomputer applications for accountants seems like a waste to prep for the exam IMHO – might be useful job skills depending on the curriculum (advanced excel might be nice).

Cost Accounting would help for BEC

Corporate or Partnership Taxation would help for REG

    FAR - PASSED 11/2009 - EXPIRED, PASSED 11/2012
    REG - PASSED 1/2011 - EXPIRED, PASSED 11/2012
    AUD - PASSED 5/2011
    BEC - PASSED 11/2011
    ETHICS - PASSED 12/2012
