I was curious if nmeonics truly helped on the exam and which ones you chose to remember for test day.

    I take roger cpa.

    Some nmeonics are

Procedures to obtain understanding of I/C

    UpDATED

10 GAAS measures of quality of auditor’s performance

    TIPPICANOE

    I/C elements

    CRIME

    Control environment factors

    CHOPPER

    Thanks!

I used Roger as well, as soon as I got in I wrote down all the mnemonics I could remember and it was helpful. They issue I had, I forgot what some of the letters stood for. But yes, I believe it was very beneficial having those written down.

    BRAIN STORMS for Planning Procedures

PIPS, activites upon which we want controls.

ARCC > segregation of duties and then RIO

13 Management Assertions UPERCV helped me a lot!!

ICORRIIA was super helpful too. Know which ones are test of details in that group too.

I just took Audit. Knowing the mnemonics was REALLY overrated. Didn't need them more than one time. I spent about 2 days memorizing them during my review period. I still think they are good to know, they at least give you confidence before your exam. If you can write them out then you prove to yourself that you know something. I got a 93 BTW.

    FAR- 92 (7/25/2014)
    AUD- 93 (8/30/2014)
    REG- 93 (10/10/2014)
    BEC- 91 (11/10/2014)

Using Becker self-study only. Working full-time.

@playonwords wow great job! if you don't mind me asking how did you study? It was bummer not passing because thought I did well.

I think the simulations got me, so going to study those this time around.

I used Becker. Hand wrote notes after watching the lecture, basically wrote out a majority of what they wanted highlighted or wrote in red pen. After the lecture and notes, I'd do the MC questions and the Sims for each chapter. I did 2 chapters per week since I work full time. Then had about 10 days for review, so I reviewed one chapter per day by reading through the book and notes and doing progress tests and re-doing the Sims.

I also spent a lot of time memorizing all the mnemonics, literally all of them. Like I said that did not really help much.

What helped me the most was simply becoming as familiar as possible with the material and re-reading my notes and the chapters. My score won't indicate this but I hated this exam more than FAR. On FAR, if you studied right you have a very fair shot at answering every question with an educated guess at least. On the AUD exam the questions were either something I knew or something I had never seen before. The topics were just completely random. I looked up some of the answers on questions that I remembered when I got home and got pretty lucky. I think I was 5/5 on questions where I had to make a somewhat educated guess.

    FAR- 92 (7/25/2014)
    AUD- 93 (8/30/2014)
    REG- 93 (10/10/2014)
    BEC- 91 (11/10/2014)

@willpassby okay so I guess since ya said u looked questions up after did ya see them present in the Becker review ? Sorry I ask because just purchased Becker for FAR section and that would be a good reassurance that the questions were actually consistent.!

CRIME and ARC. Those are the best two. The others are ridiculous and didn't help me remember anything. The same could not be said for BEC. I liked the mnemonics for that section and found them helpful.

    AUD - 99
    BEC - 97
    REG - 91
    FAR - 1/8/16

Sorry hopefulKat, I didn't understand. 🙂 I am going to guess what you meant.

As far as simulations go, the authoritative literature can be very helpful. I know there are many people that don't practice SIMS, but I did and I would suggest practicing using the authoritative literature to complete them (unless you obviously know the answer). That way you are prepared for anything they throw your way. Because even if you don't know the answer, you do know how to go find it.

    AUD - 99
    BEC - 97
    REG - 91
    FAR - 1/8/16
