New Job Anxiety, and how to cope

Well, I’m so blessed that I received a job offer and I’m so excited sometimes I wake up thanking God.

But I’ve been out of work, corporate work, for 5 months now and I’m a bit anxious about getting back to work and meeting the new personalities, all of whom happen to be women (no sexism intended…. haha).

For everyone who’s been through this, how do you deal with that anxiety you face about your new job that you really want? Shot of whisky before work? Mediation? What?

It's normal to have some nerves before doing something new. I definitely wouldn't recommend having a drink before work.

I found that getting in some exercise helped, chill out to some music on the drive to work, and I tried to get to know the people I was working with during the first few weeks.

@10key. That's a good idea. I'll take a chill pill and try to mingle with the new people. It'll be my very first time not working with the “boys”. I wonder what type of jokes women tell at the office? During the interview the ladies were already joking that they needed more testosterone and there I am lol. I'm even more nervous because I'll be the only guy in the Audit department – hopefully I won't be the butt of their jokes. But I can't wait to be part of that team of the super smart people.

    Thanks for your input 🙂
