Good Day A71 Community,
I am new to this forum and feel blessed to have found people who actually “understand” what the journey of becoming a CPA is all about.
I currently work with a small not-for-profit community college as a Staff Accountant. I have been with the institution for two years (This is my first role with in accounting). As one of three accountants, I am in charge of all the general accounting functions of the department e.g, bank recons, JE entry, booking misc. entries, etc. Furthermore, my role has become stagnant with no room for growth nor do I have a mentor to further mold me!
That being said, I found a posting with a tier-two accounting firm (e.g. Grant Thornton) for an Audit Associate, which I am highly considering. For those of you who are or have been in public accounting, would you kindly shed some light of what public accounting is all about? Would you opine that acquiring such experience will open doors for me? Lastly, do tier-two firms have a healthier work/life balance than Big 4?
Thank you for your time! Look forward to your replies!
