Good morning everyone,

I am currently trying to study for BEC, I test on 31st of this month. I have been trying to go through Becker but I can’t hack the material or deal with Peter Olinto for that matter. I have the NINJA notes for BEC already. My strategy for FAR and AUD was to go through Becker and the NINJA notes to create a foundation hammer MCQ and sims to fill in any gaps and again copying NINJA notes several times throughout this process and I was successful in my last two exams. With BEC I can’t get through a single lecture with Peter Olinto because he confuses me and jumps around more than Tim Gerity which even though he had you highlight everything I was able to follow him better.

To get to the point of my post. Is the NINJA book a good tool to use…as I said before I’m a believer in NINJA notes but I’ve never used the NINJA book. I like to to have somewhat of a foundation before I really pound the MCQ out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use the NINJA book, but I get most of my studying done through the MCQs, notes and flashcards.

I read the book in about 7 to 10 days then move on to copying notes, reviewing notes and studying/making flashcards for about 7 to 10 days and then just do MCQs until my exam. I take a few days “off” MCQs to review/copy notes and study flashcards but for the most part my approach is to do as many MCQs as I can and learn that way. I take notes on MCQs and I try to understand it. I also do all of the MCQs once (first step) then go back through and do only the “missed last time seen” (second step). Then go back through and do random MCQs (third step). During the second step I also do “random” MCQs so I stay fresh on things I already know.

I started watching lectures too (I have WILEY) and I couldn't concentrate like you said or got confused so I decided to stop watching the videos as I felt I was wasting my time.

I learn better by doing which is why copying notes and doing practice MCQs works for me and why I don't spend too much time reading the book or watching videos.

So far I have read the book, hand created flashcards (using the NINJA flashcards), and am starting to copy down the NINJA notes. As I am copying the notes I already feel I remember the information from the book or the flashcards.

I haven't started doing any MCQs yet though and plan on starting that Saturday after writing down all the notes, so I don't really know how that's going to go. But this is how I've passed my other tests so hope it works for BEC too!

Thanks Vanessa! I think I will purchase the NINJA book as well I really need to have a foundation so if I get something wrong I kind of have an idea why.

Yes and the NINJA book has tons of examples! I think it will be really helpful when doing MCQs the first time around 🙂
