Way too many piracy concerns for Jeff to do that in my opinion.

There won't be an offline version, unfortunately…too cost prohibitive. Most people are connected to the internet in one form or another anyway.

re: “pause button” – looking into it…it would only help with a practice exam because in study mode, it doesn't really matter because it will feed you the questions later if you quit 50 questions into a 200 MCQ set.
