I will delete the drama/bickering/flaming if I see it.
None of us have time for it and another71 isn't the place for it.
Perhaps a "No Drama" post is drama itself, but you get my point :)

I thought accountants were supposed to be boring? LOL
I guess we are supposed to be.
~* PEACE *~
:D
niceeee!!!! I am sure I'll start contributing again, back to the days of when I just joined.
P.S I like the change in title , 2012 should be a good year for another71
Thanks rknight
Minimorty surfs?? My whole image of you just changed. Not that I thought badly of you or anything like that, just didn't peg you as a surfer. Respect!!!
Surfing? I tried surfing at Del Mar a few months ago - first (and last ) time ... I was freaking exhausted after 15 minutes of being knocked on my butt over and over.
It was worse than 3 rounds of my wannabe MMA workouts.
Surfing is awesome! I've only done it once, but I'd love to do it again. When I was in Hawaii about ten years ago I got surfing lessons from this old beach bum there. A couple months later, I was watching TV and he came up in an interview and they called him one of the best surfers in the world. I had had no idea!
I'm pretty sure it's this guy... I know he was called "the rabbit" and it was on Waikiki Beach.

I actually dont surf. One of my good friends founded surfline.com. He was one of the most influential people in the surfing industry and was elected to the surfing hall of fame a couple of years ago. He passed away yesterday of a massive heart attack while playing tennis at my tennis club. Only 59 years old. So, so sad.
@Mini, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. It's great of you to keep his memory alive.
As for the drama, I wish there were a way to denote sarcasm in written text. I think too many people misinterpret sarcasm as direct personal attacks and the defenses shoot up. Being overly sarcastic myself, I pick up on it quickly but I've gotten myself in trouble a time or two when people didn't pick up on it. Dry wit + sarcasm = people think you're a jerk (sometimes)
I'm sorry for your loss Mini.
Sorry for the misunderstanding Mini. And sorry to hear about your friend.
I do surf and am familiar with Surfline. Great service.
Maybe one day you can give surfing a try (if you have not already) in his honor. It can be exhausting like Jeff mentioned, but one good ride makes it all worthwhile.
@Mini,
I don't know what is going on lately, but to me you have always been a great resource :)
Thank you, KasiaS, kandis, and sim.
Haha, thanks, atelery. Now its time for you to pass on all of that knowledge to the new class of CPA candidates. Be careful though because some of them (not all, I was corrected on this earlier) are a little sensitive.
WHAT! no more drama? I am out of here! ha jk.. while I agree we should not fight, I still think we should be able to respectfully disagree with people and call people out if they're being non-sensical-myself included. We shouldn't expect to always be told what we want to hear...facing reality is always good.
110% agree Jen
Post lately have gone from "respectfully disagree" to "wahhhh...go cry about it, kid".
Hence my post.
Minimorty continues to say that "some" people on here are sensitive, which may or may not be true. Are some of the thread questions dumb? Possibly. But people are putting themselves out there and asking for help. The last thing they want is a snide comment or a sarcastic response that makes them feel bad.
I have no problem with sarcasm, and I resist the urge all the time on here to say a person's question isn't a good one. But you know what? Mine and your definition of a good question may be completely different. You can gladly disagree with people and I certainly welcome a different perspective, but mean sarcastic comments shouldn't be tolerated on here. I am not one of the sensitive ones on here but I will stand with the thin skinned people on here because I know what it's like to ask a question and have some snarky comment come back which doesn't help at all.
Some of the candidates are sensitive. There is nothing factually inaccurate about that statement.
@jamesjohnson11
I find its just best to ignore him; don't feed the troll as they say.
I think it's entertaining to see how tough people like James and Kevin are behind the Internet veil. I would love to see how big their balls would be if this were a face to face confrontation.
@james and @kevin let it go dudes... no one on here is 4 years old... if you're not willing to accept all types of responses, don't post, simple as that.
This is what I think Jeff was referring to as "drama".
Honestly, I think James articulated himself well. I don't want sarcasm or comments mocking others either. I do want to see/hear different points of view...and I think we can do that in a respectful manner. Plain and simple.
Baseballcpa----- I'm 6'3" 220 come talk to me and will see how tough you think you are.
Fortunately for everyone else the person who runs this website picks and chooses who he lets make stupid remarks and blocks and deletes the comments he doesn't like. As long as your name is minimort and you continue to have no life your comments will be allowed. I mean seriously mini you spent over 466 hours on here this year. You need to get a life and spend some time with your family or something.
Thought this website was classier then all this bullshit talk and making fun of people. This is the last time I visit here. I don't need to deal with this garbage. Good luck losing page views because there are a lot of people who are getting more and more agitated by the stupid trolls on here trying to be funny.
Good to know what you want, Yankee. Not all of us are cut from the same cloth; some of us enjoy sarcasm. If Jeff decides my or anyone else's contributions are negative on the whole, he can delete my account. Until then, people like Mini and myself will continue to help those with cogent and articulate queries and dishing out well-deserved sarcasm to the stupid questions. I don't care if people think I'm a troll...I don't consider myself one as my responses aren't crafted with the goal of eliciting emotional reactions from the receivers; rather, I think that's a function of over-sensitivity.
I think some people want a polite answer when there isn't one. To many postings that shall remain nameless to the tune of "is this enough studying...", "my review course sucks...", etc., if you post something silly expect equally silly responses. If anyone tries to imply that the CPA exam is just up to luck, I personally am offended by that. I worked good and hard to get my passes and anyone who belittles that can take whatever sarcasm comes their way.
For real, this is an internet blog. I am all for people not bickering since I would like to believe everyone is an adult, but don't go crying when someone calls you out. Respond in the same way, but don't get into a screaming match or a 'he said she said' battle. It's annoying.
In my experience, dumb questions warrant dumb answers. To all people out there, when in doubt whether ( ) is enough studying, don't ask. It probably is not enough otherwise you wouldn't be asking. Don't be offended when someone calls bs since you basically asked for it.
This is an adult forum for adults. This is the CPA exam. No room for whining. If you don't like it, find another one (site or exam) that suits you better. My opinion anyway, take it or leave it. Freedom at its best.
@James -- you sound adorable. Happy trails, pumpkin.
@Baseball
Never said you were a troll.
I like a sarcastic wit, however, sarcasm meant to demean someone is not up my alley. I will work on the compelling aspect of my future posts.
Anyone get anything fun for Christmas? :)
Yeah, I'm with you Yankee. I mean, I guess I view "trolling" as going into a forum and saying, "I hate ____ people" just to piss people off. And I know you didn't say I was a troll...but to echo SeePeeA's post, some questions get under my skin and I respond with cutting sarcasm. With that said, if people are really upset by that, then I will personally try to be more "sensitive" to the bleeding hearts out there. But I don't have any problems with you, Yankee, I've always been a fan of yours.
Starbucks gift card woot woot!
I bought my wife the Bourne Trilogy and Warrior on Blu Ray.
I'm quite the romantic.
@Jeff
Not sure why this is happening, but I started a thread a few minutes ago and it doesn't show up when I'm not logged in. I don't know if my computer is just slow and it will show up eventually, but can you delete the thread if you see it? I changed my mind about it.
Also, I'm posting this here because I did just start another thread posting this question, but for some reason I don't see it either. I'm hoping this will go through on an already existing thread,,,
Thank you.
I see it now ... my forum thought it was spam since the only content was a link
Sorry about that. Yeah, it's a link to an article...but changed my mind about it. Can you delete the thread?
Do you know what happened to the other thread where I posted my question? It's not even coming up when I'm logged in...Oh well, it doesn't really make a difference. Maybe I forgot to hit the "Send Post" button.
Dunno about the other thread
Acct - For some reason a number of your posts get caught in spam. I would always dig them out and mark as not spam. Weird how it does that.
Ok. I'm so tired, I probably didn't even hit the "Send Post' button and thought I did...
Thanks!
@Minimorty
That's strange. I don't always use the same computer, so I don't think it has something to do with the computer I use...unless only posts I submit from a certain computer don't go through so well.
Thanks for "unspamming" them :)
lol @ Jeff. Those are awesome movies, but usually not on the lists of gifts for the ladies. Assuming she enjoys them though? haha.
totally LOL @Jeff :) me and my family went out and had a nice dinner for Christmas :D
We're coming up on 10 years of marriage ... I can get away with stuff like that :)
I got a gps which will come in very handy on my trip to VA next week :)
"I think it's entertaining to see how tough people like James and Kevin are behind the Internet veil. I would love to see how big their balls would be if this were a face to face confrontation."
face to face confrontation? what are you even talking about? just let it go and be nice to people dude :)
Kevin so much for your own "ignore" advice?
And the drama continues. Complete with one cyber door slam..........james taking his toys and going home.
I got the Harry Potter bluray collection and a Super Mario Bros puzzle. Yes, a good old fashioned puzzle. I'm going to put it together while watching HP after I PASS THIS TEST!! :)
Old-school Powell Peralta "Cabellero" skateboard here. Last year I got an old-school Vision Gator skateboard for Christmas and didn't kill myself on it as of yet, so I figured what the heck.
A 39 year-old skateboarding accountant. Go figure!
Santa spoiled me this year with really nice kitchen equipment... I'm an excellent chef!
@katelyn I LOVE puzzles!
omg simslayer, when I read the first part of your post my thought was "oh to be young again".
I'm only 3 years older than you and NO WAY would you catch me risking injury on a skateboard, good for you!
Consider who really turned this thread from a peaceful happy thread to another drama filled thread......
It's no surprise. The only beef I ever had on another71 is with that same person.....But anyways I digress
So I spent close to $400 on gifts this year and have only gotten a $25 starbucks gift card.... lol I love my family...
Somehow we never buy gifts all together each year. This year I would spend and they wouldn't. Next year I might decide not to spend much and they would spend.....
