Hi, my NTS expires on April 1 and I don’t think I am ready to take the FAR exam on Feb 29th.

However, none of the prometrics are have open reservation near me me on April 1…

Do you think I should cancel the exam now and hope that an opening comes up before April 1? or should I just take it?

This is a retake for FAR which I took last June.. My memory faded and I didn’t do very well, so I need more time to study.. I think.

So my question is cancel it and hope that opening comes up? or Just take it and get a new NTS?

Also, do anyone know if Prometrics (especially in Socal) take in something like “Wait-list” for a timeslot?

If there are no open dates till then you are basically wasting the NTS so it doesn't hurt to take it and give it a shot. As Biff said check other locations and see if there are openings that aren't too far of a drive. Good Luck!

    BEC - 76
    REG- 67, 85
    AUD-63, 74, 80!!
    FAR-65, 62, 57, 79

Last day I can take the exam is April 1 though…

Wouldn't i have a chance that there will be opening on that date if I wait?

@Biff I live deep in Socal… nearest other state Nevada but 4 hour drive lol

within 200miles I don't see any opening at the moment on April 1…

You've already paid for it. Prepare as best you can and take it. Worst thing that happens is you fail and take it again. April is a new window and you can reschedule then. Better off throwing up a hail mary than flushing money down the toilet.

Coming from someone who was a serial “rescheduler”, you'll never feel ready.

My NTS for REG also expires on 4/1/16. I started checking for openings on 4/1 back in early January. I checked the 18 closest sites to me for like a week straight before emailing Prometric. They weren't very helpful, saying that they weren't showing any centers with openings on that date. I'm pretty sure it's some kind of glitch in their system.

Let me guess. There's a chance that this testing window could be extended till March 4th or 11th. And a slimmer chance of people rescheduling their April 1st appointment to other testing date/s until Feb. 28.

Another option and if you haven't done this yet, you can request your State Board Office for an extension of your NTS. It's only a one-time request per candidate. Just come up with a good and valid explanation of your situations like family, career, or any personal reasons. Simply contact your SB and ask for the details. You'll be able to save your application and NTS fees. The bad news is, you cannot get away with Prometric change fees ($35.00 or so) since it's less than 30 days before your scheduled test. The good news is, SB can grant you another six months to reschedule your test.

    Good luck.
