NY License Application prior to passing the examination

    Here’s the situation:

I have a bachelors in Business Management with a minor in accounting. I am eligible to sit for the exam. I am not sure about my eligibility for license in NY state. I have 180 undergrad credits and 1 year working experience under a NYS licensed CPA. I emailed the department of Ed and they told me they cannot evaluate my transcripts unless I submit the application and pay the fee. I have passed two parts of the CPA exam.

My question is that does it counts against you in any way, if they reject your license application? Because I know they’d reject it because I still have to pass the exam, but they’d also tell me if I need additional accounting credits. I need to know that soon because if I do need accounting credits then I can take them in upcoming spring semester.

It won't be held against you but there's always the possibility they'll only get as far as seeing you haven't passed the exam and reject the application without even getting as far as your education credits leaving you virtually in the same position but out the application fee.

The instructions clearly state you need to submit only after obtaining credit for the full Uniform CPA Examination. I believe if you were eligible to sit, and have 180 credits you should be fine
