Offline Studying help REG

This summer I will be out of town with extremely limited access to the internet for 4 days one week before my REG exam. I’m using Becker & I plan to have watched all of my lectures and will bring my book along for re-writing notes. I have some slightly outdated flash cards (2014 or 2015 – can’t remember) I could bring but I’m worried that especially for REG they could be dangerous being out of date. What are your suggestions for the best, most cost efficient, resources I could use for offline studying?

You could get another book (for example, Wiley's study guide, which is on Amazon for about $55, or $48 used) to do MCQs out of it…I don't like doing MCQs out of a book, but it would be a way to bring MCQs with you. I assume your Becker book has some in it, but getting another would give you more questions to work with.

    1. Bring the 2014 or 15 flashcards – there shouldn't be too much that's changed since then.
    2. Make your own flashcards – not sure how much time you have to do so, but I made my own cards for all of the bolded words in Roger – it was a big help. The act of writing down the information forced me to slow down and understand it more too.
    3. Do you have offline lectures? My Roger package came with a thumb drive that had all of the lectures offline. I didn't use it that much, but I was able to use it when my internet was down at work or elsewhere.

You can download Becker CPA review to a computer and use it offline. The only problem is, it gets a little janky if you don’t connect to the internet every couple weeks.

I was wondering about the Becker offline access too…Does it mean I can download lectures or can I do MCQ offline too? My internet is not good so it will be nice to have…

Buy some data from verizon or at&t……I have the portable internet through verizon, and it comes in handy for times of limited internet access. I don't have problems with connections either….I love it, Some people say it is a waste of money, but I don't use it to watch movies or other stuff that eat a lot of data. I don't really use all of my data per month ( since I put my children off my plan).

I will be in a remote area of the Adirondack Mountains and we don't get cellular service on any network at the camp so I don't think buying hotspot data would work. My only connectivity will be driving into town to use the local library, and they may have limited hours for the holiday weekend. I have considered skipping this year's trip, but it may likely be the last that my grandparents have so I don't want to look back later in life and regret not going while I hug my CPA license tight instead of my family. If I am really aggressive and focused with my studies after FAR I may be able to take REG before the trip and thus truly enjoy it

Just as Stilgoin mentioned it, Becker software is USABLE even in WEEKS with no internet connection. I am just not sure how the software would work in months without internet access.
So when you to get internet connection again, make sure to update it by logging in.

Hope it works out with your mini get-a-way…..as they say “If there's a will, there's a way”. most of the suggestions may sound tedious but the easiest I think someone mentioned getting the wiley book with the questions and sims already there and reasonably priced unless you are going to do a lot of printing, or hope to get other than internet access from Becker.

I should clarify- everything is available in the Becker CPA Review downloaded version including lectures, ebook, outlines, MCQs, progress tests, practice exams and flash cards if you purchased them. Just connect and update when you can to keep everything going smooth.

    Good luck!
