I am studying for a FAR retake. I scored a 63 on it during the last window but really didn’t give myself enough time to properly prepare. In all honesty, I took it just to see what it was like, even though I only prepared for under a month.

This is my last section. I have found that I am totally doing everything except studying! Has anyone else found that their motivation started to shake while preparing for their last section?

YES!! That is why I failed FAR the last testing window. I was lazy and only did half the homework. Seeing a failing grade was not a surprise, but it sure kicked me in the ass!!! It was what I needed to get my head back in the game.

I'm putting everything I can into this exam. I've never studied so hard for a section before. Also, if I don't pass, I lose credit for a section.

I believe you just took 2 sections, correct? This is your 3rd this testing window? I think you are just burnt out. Wow.

Yes. The other two were retests that I missed by 2 points and 3 points. I am retaking FAR at the very end of this window. I really need to get re-motivated. I so need to be done with this.

Trying to be done before year-end. It gets completely insane at my company starting around mid-December and then won't ease up until the end of April – beginning of May.

If I were you, I would take the weekend off to recharge. Wow. Did I already say that? Wow.

I think you need a little time away from the material. Trying to force yourself to study doesn't always work. Sometimes it's more effective to walk away and then come back to it later.

On my last exam as well and I completely agree. It's SO hard. I haven't been going very long, I'm 3 for 3 and taking my fourth in my third test window….and I've taken breaks here and there so I don't think I'm burnt out in the traditional sense, I just find it hard to find the motivation. Maybe I'm just getting a little arrogant but deep down inside I know the minute you don't give the exam the respect it deserves it buries you. I've got 3.5 weeks until the exam, and really just started going full steam this week. I sat down earlier in the week and mapped out exactly what I'm going to need to do to have a shot at this one. It's not going to be easy. Put the girlfriend on full alert that outside of something we had pre-planned this weekend and maybe a Halloween party, I'm studying every night after work and at least 1 full weekend day. I honestly thought that it being my last I would have all of the motivation I need, but it's surprisingly not working out that way. NOT going to lose this one in the 4th quarter and if I do it won't be because I didn't give it my best shot. Can't do anything about my slacking the last 2 weeks, but I can finish strong and hope for the best. Lets finish this thing up and have a kickass holiday season!

    Thanks, how many letters.

I need to do the same – just jump back in, head-first. I found the same that you did – dragging on the last and I also thought I would be more than motivated because it's my last!

Alright … jumping in with you so we can get it done before the holidays get into full swing. Yep, we can do this!

    – thanks, I totally needed that!

I am having a hard time getting my last section (REG retake) studying done because everything seems to be popping up right now. Fall is incredibly hectic when you have a school aged child. I overextended myself volunteering for field trips, fall festivals, truck or treats, etc. I'm also working long hours being audited for the interim. I am exhausted and can hardly stay away past 9:00 each night. I have 6 weeks and have no idea how I can fit all of this in. I actually want to study and cannot find 20 hours a week to do so. My fault entirely, but it still sucks. You can do it. Just push ahead and let's finish this mess in Q4!

Mamabear: those of us without kids don't realize how good we have it from a studying standpoint. I think of the effort and sacrifice I've made and can't even imagine it with a family. You've climbed 75% of the hill…The last 25% is what separates the people who want it from the people who are determined to go get it. Let's do this!

I only failed my third attempt (which was BEC), should have been the easiest but I slacked at the mid point. I had financial motivations to finish so I was going to kill REG.

Can't imagine FAR last, you guys are crazy! Keep up the studying.

    FAR: 84 on 4/4/13
    AUD: 91 on 7/27/13
    BEC: 72 on 11/11/13, 82 on 01/03/14
    REG: 80 on 02/27/14

I have a nine year-old special needs child. I managed to juggle time with the other three sections while tending to all of his needs, but this time — I seriously need to find some of that motivation I had. It's getting back there! It needs to get there quick! Testing at the end of this window.

I envy those who can study at work or instead of work. Like a lot of you, I have to limit studying times to before work and after work.

Use the desire to spend more time with your kids as a motivation. Close your eyes and visualize a marathon. You've already run 25.5 miles and have a half mile to go. You can see your kids in the distance but you're exhausted and sore. What do you do? Give in to the fatigue and walk that last .5 mile or kick it mama style and give it all you've got to get your babies in your tired arms? Dig like you've never had to before and get to that finish line!

@mla–that's the only thing I think about while I'm studying. Not the raise I'll get or the job opportunities…just more time with my kids. 🙂
