Oh Noez! Your Stupid FAR Sims Just Sunk My Battleship!

So… I absolutely crushed the MCQ on my FAR exam today, and I was getting the feeling that I was going to walk out of the testing center pretty much knowing I passed the exam. I’m almost 100% sure my second and third testlet were ‘hard’ testlets and I still believe/know I did very well on them. When I got to the sims, however, well… let me put it to you this way, I’m pretty sure these guys had a hand in developing Microsoft Excel due to the ridiculous number of different types of shaded cells they wanted me to answer in each section.

Out of my 7 testlets, I would estimate that, at the minimum, I was asked to input values for 50-75 different boxes (no exaggeration; this also takes into account the one research sim I had which only included a single citation…).

I have a couple of questions for the FAR vets in here if anyone is reading:

    1) Are/Were the sims this difficult/long for any of you guys? I guess it wasn’t necessarily that the sims were ‘hard’, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that I could adequately finish the 7 sims that were given to me (I had over 1.25 hours left when I began my sims). All-in-all, there was just too many things in each sim that they required me to calculate.

    2) Has anyone passed an exam like this where they believe they did great on the MCQ but got utterly destroyed on the sims?

Overall, I just kind of feel like I was cheated out of that exam after I did so well on the first three testlets. There’s just no possible way that any person given my 7 sims could do those things in less than 2 hours time…

Anyhow, that’s it for me! I hope some of the other guys on here that took tests this week have better stories to tell!
