I’m in Ohio and part of the 30 semester hours required to sit for the CPA exam is an ethics course. Is this a fairly new requirement? I’m having a terrible time finding any online programs such as LSU or any local community colleges that offer an ethics course from the accounting department. Can anyone offer any insight?

I'm from Ohio and I was worrying about the ethics requirement when I applied to sit for the exam. I think my 3 credit hours of business law courses ended up fulfilling the requirement.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

The course evaluation worksheet they provided says that the ethics portion must be from an accounting department. I have business law. I might look at keller online.

I also am in Ohio. My business law class counted as my ethics course. I am done with all portions of the exam and waiting on my license.

I just spoke with someone at the accountancy board of Ohio and they told me that my audit course covered professional ethics. There is even a tiny little blurb about that on their website in the FAQs.
