OMG… FAR!

Well, took my 3rd, yes THIRD, FAR test today… I TOTALLY FAILED! The past two times I made a 72 and 73. I’ll be lucky to get a 30 this time. And to make it worse, I felt more prepared this go round. The topics of focus on the prior two exams were similar. But this time it was like they focused on all the little one page sections that you’re told to be familiar with but not to worry much about. IT WAS BRUTAL! The multiple choice was ridiculous, and the SIMS were literally out of this world. Ugh! How the hell do you study for this thing??? It literally feels like the only way to pass is to be lucky enough to get a test that is geared toward your strengths. Is it really possible to be prepared for everything?

FAR is a beast of a test due to all the details and various calculations. I took my retake last months and thought I bombed it because the MCQs were on smaller sections and the SIMs were horrific!

Several weeks later, I was overjoyed to find out I passed!

So, until your score release date and you know that you actually failed, try to keep your mind off of that exam (I know it is easier said than done, believe me!).

If you are not studying for another exam right now, try to relax and do something you enjoy 🙂

    Good Luck!!!

    No it

No, it is not possible to be prepared for every little part (especially on FAR) all you can do is study and don't rush through the questions on the actual exam.

Rewriting all my notes was a technique I added to my study plan this time around and it paid off big time (60 to 76). 🙂

@ANN1007 To me that sounds like you passed. Every time I walked out of the testing center thinking I passed, I ended up failing. On the other hand, every time I walked out thinking there is no way in hell I could have passed, I ended up passing. Weird how these exams work, but focus on your next section and forget about this one until you get your score.

I would also be optimistic. I thought I had moved backwards from 71 to 50-something. I was actually one point away from passing. I too thought this exam was brutal compared to my first try, and I knew most of the material much better. Harder testlets can play with your head!

    B: 77 (LC), 75
    A: 63,74,88
    R: 60,67,80
    F: 71,74,74 again, and 86 - DONE!

    Ethics and application - done.

I thought I BOMBED FAR when I took it. I pushed back my next exam so that I would be able to restudy for FAR. 100% convinced I failed. Surprise surprise… 76!

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

I just took far, I only really attempted a few of the sims

I filled in all the empty boxes with something. I think I did ok on the first testlet, 2nd and 3rd were both hard and I was prolly guessing on half the questions. I dont think I got 1 sim correct besides the research question and even that im unsure about

Its a crapshoot. There's definitely an element of luck for each exam sitting. You can see from my scores that I dropped back. I received the 73 in Dec 2012 and the 71 in Feb 2013. It was hard to take as I felt as/more prepared. I ended up taking a break from FAR altogether and sat for another exam. I felt like my mind was fatigued with that material. When I came back I restudied the whole course as if I didn't take it before, I was surprised at how much I remembered.
