No matter HOW proud you are of yourself sometimes its better to keep quiet.

We’re doing EXTENSIVE fundraising for my little one’s cheer squad to compete at Nationals. I overheard some grumbling about what a pain it is to count and track all the money. I asked if I could help and was told you have to be a board member to be trusted with the money. I chuckled and said I wish I knew that before I busted my backside to get my CPA.

You guessed it, I’m a board member now. Oy. Not what I had in mind when I was studying for the exams!

Going forward, avoid homeowners associations and scouts of all varieties. I once served as the Treasurer of my son's Boy Scout pack. Worst year of my life!

My old neighbor had a theory on volunteerism. He said that the last time he volunteered for anything, he found himself waist deep on a French beach, carrying a rifle and begin shot by Germans. He said that he wasn't volunteering for anything ever again! 😀
