    Hey Guys,

I’ve been fortunate enough to take REG, AUD and BEC this summer, and I currently have FAR scheduled for the first of October.

With this in mind, I start work at a Big 4 firm on the 6th and commence with training in NYC for several weeks after my start date. Yesterday, I had surgery to fix my lower abdominal wall (hernia related), and the next few days will be spent on pain medications and plenty of fluids. Studying is definitely being hindered.

I’m approximately half way through the material (definitely haven’t mastered yet, it’s tough as you all know), and I’m looking for your advice regarding possible postponement of my test date. I’m worried that if I postpone it past October 1st, I’ll be forced to study while training (training is meant to be chance to network at night as well obviously) and while working. I’m not worried about studying while working seeing as many of you handle much more when studying.

With that in mind, I don’t want to fumble the ball on the goal line here. I don’t want to rush FAR and fail. If I do, I have to wait til January to retake.

My current idea is to push back to the end of a scoring period within the window to reduce waiting time and afford myself a few additional weeks to review and study.

I value your thoughts and concerns regardless of your scores.

    Thanks Guys!

You should be fine if you push it back to the end of November. I work full time and passed 3 out of 4 in six months time.

The end of November will give you approx. 11 weeks to study half of the material. It sounds like you're fresh out of school. That helps too. You still have a bunch of the material in the back of your head.

It sounds like your plan will work just fine. You're passing on the first attempt and seem to have a decent pattern.

Hopefully, your hernia issue will clear up so that during your training you can “network”. I had a couple network in the room next to me while I was at McG training….

    Best of luck

I start 10/6 at a Big 4 in NYC too! I also have FAR left which I've scheduled to take in on 10/19; hopefully I will not have to change the test day, as it's one of the few weekend test spots available. That said I don't see a problem with pushing it a few more weeks back, especially since it's your last exam.

Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon!

@Smith, now you're talking my language

Studying has hindered networking this summer

Don't be worried about pushing it back. It will work out just fine. I had a kidney stone the week before I took BEC and was all drugged up, so I understand that. The most important thing is that you feel confident going into the exam. If taking a little longer to study gives you that confidence then do it!

    AUD - 99
    BEC - 97
    REG - 91
    FAR - 1/8/16

Seriously though, go to the training and enjoy it (whatever that may entail). It may be the last bit of genuine freedom you see for a while. Just be careful not to go over the top in the evening; some McG folks were fired because they couldn't show up to classes. Another guy got fired because he puked in the trash can at 7am in front of the HR department.

@Smith, appreciate the concern. I know my limits and the professional limits as well. Thanks man.

Still open to other opinions if you're reading this topic.
