OT: NOT NOT NOT Good – Floods at home

My home is dry. We are built up high so I think we will be okay.

For those who aren’t watching the news, overnight the northwest Florida panhandle had 27 inches of rain. There is widespread devastation. A river is now flowing between my neighbor’s house and ours (we don’t have a river in our neighborhood, but we do now). The water has no were to go. Homes are falling into sinkholes, bridges and highways are collapsing everywhere as they are just being washed out.

I’m away at training in Texas till this weekend. Its mortifying to see the photos. I can barely study now because when I get on the computer I just keep switching to the local news channels who are posting more and more photos of the area.

I know I’ve met some people from here at the prometric center that live in my area. I’m praying everyone is okay.

How to focus??? My last test is on Tuesday. I’ve no choice but to keep focusing, but this is really tough. Every break in class today I’ve had to call home to make sure no water in the house. Normally I am doing flashcards during breaks, but that is too hard. These are precious minutes where I should be studying, but I can’t seem to be able to think of anything else but home.

As backwards as it seems you'd probably be more at ease if you were there yourself. Don't know what to tell you except get this DONE because chances are a lot of your friends and family will need your attention for quite a while so do what you can so you can be 100% available after Tuesday!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

thank you – I'm afraid I'm not fully prepared (even though I can get 90s in my Becker's homework and progress exams, Jeff's Ninja MCQs are showing me weak areas that weren't covered in Beckers). I've thought about turning off my computer and just studying from books, but its like a compulsion now to keep going to the news pages and checking for more news from home. There is nothing I can do from here, but I still feel like I should be doing something.

I'm sorry to hear this, I hope your friends and family are safe and that your property remains out of harm's way. You're doing your best and only you will be able to decide what kind of balance you can maintain regarding this next exam. If you can get yourself to a point where you are reasonably assured of the safety of your loved ones and there's nothing more you can do, then maybe take those opportunities to distract yourself with MCQs. There's no road map for some of life's extraordinary events but keep using us as a sounding board if it helps! I wish you the best of luck.

Man that's a really tough break. Here's hoping it stays dry.

“How to focus??? My last test is on Tuesday. I've no choice but to keep focusing, but this is really tough”

No idea. I hope someone has some advice because that is an insane situation.
