When you form a partnership and you contribute equipment with a debt attached to it and the partnership assumes that debt, is that considered boot, in which case you can recognize a gain to the extent of boot received?

I know in LKE liabilities assumed are treated as boot.

If other partners assume a liability higher than your basis, it's considered gain.
