Passed all four – my experience using Ninja and the competition

    NINJA Question –

I used Gleim (or should say “purchased”) Gleim for all exams. I’m also a CFA Charterholder so much of the material wasn’t overly complex. For example, I took BEC first and passed without even getting through the material – solely because I knew the econ stuff.

However, I took and passed both REG and AUD with Gleim, albeit barely. Both times I left the testing facility feeling like I studied my rear end off, knew the material cold walking in, but saw questions that were never posed to me before. In other words, I was p*ssed off (but I passed, so I kept going with Gleim).

Then came FAR. I knew FAR would be tougher than the others (at least for me) so I gave myself two months to study for it. After reading the Gleim notes and taking tests, I remembered that odd feeling of walking out of REG and AUD with a knot in my stomach. I found this site (at least the chat/posting forum) and read more into Jeff’s online exam prep. Just to be safe I bought the MCQs.

    Thank God I did.

I barely passed, but I’m confident that I would have passed with a much higher score if I had used this product earlier (I started about a week before the exam) and would have easily failed without it. Let me give one of many examples: I answered a question in the MCQs, I believe it was on how to recognize a bargain purchase sale (vs goodwill), and answered with delight, knowing that I was right. WRONG. I went back to my Gleim notes and saw that I was indeed correct. How could I be wrong if the notes say I’m right? I googled the codification and low and behold, Gleim was dead wrong. How can a study provider give wrong information and expect you to pass? I was pissed and used Jeff’s stuff from there on, printing out questions and using those for reference.

Even the day before the exam I found cash flow problems that were wrong in Gleim that the MCQs had correct. I didn’t think I stood a chance to pass, and I give 100% credit for me passing FAR to the Ninja MCQs. The MCQs on my exam were very computational, leaving me very little time to finish the SIMS, which then I only finished half of them.

For the money (lower), speed of product delivery (faster), quality of information (better), and community that’s been built on this forum compared to the competitors – at least Gleim – I’ve been referring everybody I know who’s taking the CPA exams to Ninja. It’s night versus day with respect to cost/benefit.

And no, I’m not an investor, family, etc – just somebody who was extremely displeased with a competitor and was able to turn things around with Ninja MCQs. My life would likely have been much easier study-wise if I had this material and for the other exams, but thank God it came into my life when I needed it most (FAR). It saved me from a retake. I don’t doubt that one bit.
