Passed all of my exams, and no one cares… Does that make sense?

So I found out that I passed my last exam, and it just feels like no one cares. I hate sounding self centered, but my family and friends are just like “well, we expected you to pass, good job.”

I guess I just expected more excitement surrounding the situation. I know people have their own lives and their own worries, but I just wish someone wanted to go out to celebrate or something. Even my fiancé is being mellow about the situation. He got mad at me for waiting 2 hours to tell him (so I could tell him in person…)

Anyone else have a similar experience? I’m starting to wonder if I’ll miss the void that the exam has left in my life… lol

Very bizarre. I already have 3-4 definite parties lined up for when I get that last score.

Look at the bright side, you will get your life back! I am just beginning my journey and I am sure I will feel the same as you when I finish.

My family members guilt trip me for not calling or going out of my way to visit them. Actually the worst part is my dad was in town yesterday (lives 1.5hrs away) and I told him I could not visit with him (Test day is Aug 10 and I told him last weekend not to come, so when he did come imagine my irritation).

My family members seriously think that I use studying as an excuse because apparently I am so smart I will pass without even studying (I wish!). Really, it just puts more pressure on me, what if I don't pass does that mean they will think I am stupid? And if I do pass I guess there won't be a party!

@Want My Life Back I will take a shot on Aug. 10th (evening) in honor of you!

I'm releasing my new book this week – there is a chapter on after you pass – in short, don't expect people to “get” how big of a deal it is.

Outside of a spouse or significant other … don't look for anything more than a congrats. I think one of my co-workers bought me a coffee and that was the extent of it.

Passing has to be an internally-driven desire…you have to be good with that and not expect people to really get it.

You aren't alone! This is the most difficult thing I've ever done and after each part, my coworkers, parents, and boyfriend act like they knew I would pass all along. Like its no big deal! I devoted 100+ hours to each part of this exam, on top of a full-time job. This was/is no walk in the park!

I am throwing a “Never Give Up” party when I finally pass my last exam. Key word: “I” am throwing it. ALL my friends/co-workers/family said they will come but not one has said “How can I help?” Maybe they will be more involved when I actually have a date but I”m not holding my breath. It will, however, be a fun evening regardless!!!

Congratulations on passing! I am doing a happy dance for you!!! Woo Hooooo!!!!

most ppl only care about themselves so don't be surprised. They will be more curious in 5 years when you get your new Audi.

Congrats though, thats what this form is for!

thanks for all of the input so far, it really helps. The lack of enthusiasm from most ppl has me in this sad “now what?” kind of mood. But I guess it makes sense that people who haven't been through it don't realize how incredibly hard it is…

You know why no one cares? Because no one really does care.

I want to actually hear from someone who is trying to pass this exam just to impress people. I don't understand this concept.

I understand that this was probably one of the most difficult obstacles you've overcome in your life, and I get that because I am going through a miserable time too.

But I'd be a fool to think that people are going to congratulate me on my success.

CPA is just a test; but now that you've got that leverage, go make use of it & make some money.

Its a great attitude to adopt NOW that you don't need to wait for someone else to make the first move. Most folks I've seen here plan their own reward, whether its a trip, a new electronic gadget, or an expensive new pair of shoes.

Plan a night out to celebrate and invite everyone you know. You will not end up sitting there alone.

    Congratulations on passing!

My family and friends also just assumes I will pass them. If they ask when I'll be done, I'll say something like “If I pass them all first-try, I'll be done in October; if not, depends how many re-takes I have”, and I know in their mind, that means I'm done in October. It's great they have that confidence, but I know they have no clue how big of an “if” that is…which also means they have no clue what an accomplishment it is to actually pass them all, on the first try or the 50th. If I'm still at this job when I finish, and if I finish in October, then I might beg off a couple days to spend with my boyfriend. He won't intuitively know that I need to celebrate this, but if I get the time off, then we can celebrate to an extent…but most of all, I'm just looking forward to having my evenings and weekends back! Yesterday after he got home from work, I still had more studying to do, and I could see he was so disappointed since I had thought I'd have it done by the time he got home. He never complains, but gets disappointed…so I'm looking forward to not disappointing him, to having time to watch TV or movies, to be able to play in my garden, etc! I think focusing on all of that makes it a bit easier to handle the fact that no one else will care much.

I am sick of hearing “you see, I have told you. In the end everything is working out on its own! Just give thi time!”

WTF?? Are you serious?? I mean this is the CPA exam people! This is nothing that happens on its own. This is nothing to “sit out” and wait that it is happening eventually. It is so annoying sometimes…. I mean they just don't understand how hard we are working on this and that it is just our effort that we passed!
