Passed FAR on first try but I don't feel so good about it….. - Page 2

    Anyone else like this?

I really didn’t study as intensely as I should have, and it is reflected in my score. I skipped chapters. I only focused on subjects that I was really strong in, and I didn’t even do enough MCQ’s or TBS to qualify for the becker promise….

In short, I did it the slacker way, and to add insult to injury, on my test analysis, I was put in the “Just passed” category, which means, and I just barely made it.

    It’s embarrassing I think.

I left my FAR exam not feeling super confident with my performance and ended up receiving a 78. I really thought i would probably fail while finishing up the last few testlets and the sims. I felt extremely blessed to pass and am not going to question my score! I sort of felt like a fool not reviewing the FAR materials after the exam and for checking my score online so frequently before the results were posted. I couldn't believe the weight that was lifted off my shoulders when I learned I had passed. Just be grateful you don't have to study for this monster of an exam again! Yea there were areas of the exam I was weak on but so be it. A passing score is deemed sufficient to protect the public as a CPA as mentioned earlier. I could have studied harder for this exam. I will be all the more motivated to give it my all for the next exam so that I can leave that test center having no doubt in my mind that I passed.

As a side note I took off three days from my job two weeks prior to the exam which really made the difference. Those days spent in the library were invaluable. It also helped using the Roger CPA review videos as prior to this exam I had exclusively used the exam matrix review program (no videos) which is similar to a Wiley test bank but with more detailed explanations and glossary terms. I couldn't have seen myself passing FAR and now REG without the Roger CPA lectures and materials.

    Seriously? No.

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

I think I will add that I am more proud of the 77 I got on my last go around with REG than any of my other scores (which were all better by the way) especially after getting a 74 on REG. I would have killed to get a 78 instead of a 74. I think you may need a little perspective. There are probably a lot of people here who are always used to being the best at what ever they do. I am one of those. These exams are beastly, they are not easy by any stretch. Go celebrate your pass! A pass is a pass and will get you the exact same license as four 99's. Be happy you dont have to fork over more money and more of your life to FAR!

Shoot, in regards to the CPA exam specifically…. if I could slack off and get a 75 I'd be proud and not feel a bit of guilt!

My 75 will get me the same license as your 99…which means I'm getting paid the same regardless!

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
    BEC - 79 - Pass
    FAR - 70,82 - Pass

You're on the wrong forum. If you actually feel this way you should spend less time whining about how lazy you are and get off of a forum that obviously isn't very helpful if all it does it make you feel self-conscious and go study and retake the exam.

Barf. I'm assuming that this is the response you were looking:

“Ohhhmerrgerrrd! You are either so smart or extremely lucky! You're my idol.”

All things aside, a pass is a pass, is a pass, is a pass, is a pass, is a pass. Repeat.

    #429572

no I wasnt really looking for any responses in particular.

I expected most people to look down on me or call me a lazy person who was lucky and didn't deserve to pass.

Honestly, I relieved that i passed, but I don't feel that I deserve it, and i feel uncomfortable with the thought of helping future clients. I feel incompetent and unworthy. I definitely DON'T feel like i have the adequate skills to the meet the standard of a “protection of the public” atleast within the subjects tested within the FAR exam.

Many people are beating me up and name calling me, but feel that your attacks are warrented. What kind of person am

I? I deserve ridicule. That what a slacker deserves– riducle and disdain.

Wanna Be:You have an education that you obviously received great benefit from and which helped you pass the exam. You didn't just wake up and say…I think I'm going to breeze through FAR today. Some folks go through the exams very easily and others struggle. You have what it takes and you will be able to help clients proficiently. That is what Seniors are for…to guide you. The CPA exam is to help you gain entrance into the profession…NOT to start at the top with a full plate of clients. You are smart and you can do this! Trust yourself and be proud of your success! =)

Honestly, other than your confidence issues, you do VERY well in public accounting! If I get anything over a 75, my senior manager tells me I studied too much and wasn't efficient in regards to my study habits. Food for thought…

    B - (08/29/2013) Passed
    A - (07/02/2013) Passed
    R - (10/17/2013) 73 - Rematch
    F - (05/29/2013) Passed
