Hi Everyone,

I passed all four exams for the Maryland CPA Exam. I need to take the ethics exam, and already have my hours.

The problem is I only have 132 credits and Maryland Requires 150.

What should I do? After taking the ethic exam and sending in proof of hours, should I take credits to get my license.

I wont be using my license anytime soon, since I am starting my own business, but I would eventually would like to obtain my license. Is there some sort of deadline? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check with your state board – some states set a deadline for licensure before scores expire. Others (I think Washington maybe?) don't. If you have a deadline, I'd get going on those credits so you don't lose your exam scores and have to start over again. 🙂

I don't know any rule that says a fully passed exam (4 sections) ever expires in Maryland, same as education credit hours don't expire, but you should check with the DLLR to be sure.

You should definitely check because in MA you have 2 years to get the remaining credits or your exam credits expire.

@Stgeorge I'm also a MD candidate and only at 130 credits. Ill be on the same boat as you after this summer once I pass all the parts.

Can you let me know what you find out about MD rules.
